Rules
1. Please, please, please no Sues, they ruin it for all the other members who may want to participate. If you’re unsure about an aspect of your character you can ask myself or the mods who are probably a bit more helpful.
2. Characters cannot be taken or heavily based from the official series, they should be of your own creation, let your imagination run wild.
3. Please no taking over other member’s characters unless they ask you to or you are assigned their character because they are dropping out of the RP.
4. If you would like to say something that doesn’t relate to the RP, post a comment on the current situation in the RP or ask a question make sure to place Ooc: (out of character) before you begin typing it.

This RP is very closely based on the manga Angelic Layer created by CLAMP, it has of course been adapted into an anime as those of you who have seen it will know. Although I’ve changed several small details to suit the plot of the RP and to make things a tad more exciting the general rules within the Layer have remained the same. The concept is very simple and it doesn’t require anyone to go out and read every book or study every single episode of the anime…though I do encourage you to, the characters, costumes and ideas are extremely good.

Since the anime is based just as much as the on-field battles as much as what goes on off the field, it’s inevitable there will be some forms of violence. However because of the way ‘angels’ are designed there isn’t very much gore at all.

Angelic Layer. The game that was first it was designed for nothing more than domestic entertainment has risen to international popularity and acclaim. With thousands of dollars poured into upgrading features and coming up with new types of ‘angels’ it was impossible for it not to grow this large. It doesn’t require any remotes, nor a complicated device to be hooked up to a screen in order to play. No. What was once only virtual has become a reality. It is the ultimate battling game to have ever been designed. With the assistance of only a technologically enhanced headset a dues can mentally connect with a specially designed doll, or angel as they are more commonly known, can give orders to kick, punch, jump, dodge, defend, attack…almost anything is possible with the right amount of training and *****verance. All of this takes place on a circular battlefield called a ‘layer’. Layers have recently been designed to replicate different settings, a beach for instance, or mountains. There are hundreds of types of angels, some built for speed and agility and others built for strength and power. It is up the dues to come up with the appearance of their angel, the hair colour, the outfit and most of all the distinct personality that these dolls develop.

After the first official national Angelic Layer tournament was held in Japan it was inevitable a World Wide tournament was soon to follow with thousands of countries across the globe investing in the importing of angels. One participant has been chosen to represent each nation, usually the winner of the national tournament however this isn’t always the case. The air around the large dome that is home to the most impressive layer on the world is thick with tension. After the practise rounds are over there is no room for second chances. You lose, you go and hope like hell you make it back next year. But with governments pouring millions into the development of their representative dues and angel there will be no easy win, and as always, no easy loss. The media are hyped and so are the crowds, it’s the build up of the century being advertise don television all over the world. There are stories of ridiculous amount of money being paid for just a single ticket. And yet for those competing the hype is of a completely different sort. The pressure is starting to creep into the hotel reserved for those entered in the tournament. As well as winning fights on the layer they have to deal with off field disagreements, tensions, uneasy alliances and even possible romance. It’s a whirlwind of chaos, the first official International showdown, the first fight to claim the right as number one. The personality clashes will cause many problems, throughout the duration of the tournament dreams will be smashed, hopes will be lost and yet in the midst of the heartbreak one will emerge winner.

Every angel is different, with separate strength, weaknesses and signature moves and fighting styles. From speedy to strong and almost everything in between, the variation is mammoth. But and angel is something more than a doll designed to fight, for many of the people playing Angelic layer an angel is a reflection of who they are and who they would like to be. It is claimed that an angel is little less than the dues’ soul itself. But throughout the lodgings there can be no doubt of the utter determination of the contestants, of the desire to win and leave a hero. And so I leave it to you to decide…can you live with the atmosphere of the tournament? Can you pull through fight after fight? Does your angel have the strength in them to keep on fighting? Do you have what it takes to show the world your skill? And most importantly…

…Can you leave knowing you’re anything but first?

Angelic layer international Tournament Rules and Regulations:

1. Assistance in battle from an object that is not part of an angel itself will result in immediate disqualification.
2. A battle can only be won once an angel has been thrown out of the layer or has lost the maximum amount of damage points. If by the end of the time neither of the above have occurred the match will be decided by the angel which has taken the least amount of damage.
3. Interfering with another Angel or Deus’ headset and connections will result in disqualification.
4. All models of angel must be legitimate and be available to the general public.
5. Every contestant must have a registered name and angel.
6. During the tournament Dues’ or angels may not be upgraded, changed in any way or swapped.
7. After the practise matches the loser of any fight will leave the tournament, for good.

Character Forms and Inspiration
Before posting the character forms I’d like to say a few things about creating an angel. Most angels are named after the theme, colour or inspiration for the outfit and appearance, for example the angel dressed in the white nurse’s outfit in the official manga is named Blanche, the word for white in French. The colour of the hair an eyes are completely up to you as is the type of angel you choose. Keep in mind that every type of angel has a weakness of some description and I would prefer for you to keep the competition even, not unbeatable’s please…Like I’ve mentioned before angels tend to be a reflection on the hopes and personality of their dues so keep everything in line with the character of your dues. Deus’ and angels can be both male and female and it’d be great to get a good mix of both…To help you with coming up with ideas for your angel here are some of the main characters CLAMP came up with for he manga (purely for inspiration okay?)But remember you can go wild and have fun with it, but I’m getting of track again, here are of course the pictures…

Deus
Name: Eloise O'Sullivan
Age: 14
Country Representing: Ireland
Appearance: Eloise is both of average height and weight for a girl of her age, her hair is made up of an overly large mass of dark brown curls, she has greyish eyes and reasonably pale skin.
Personality: Eloise can be both sarcastic, negative and also quite arrogant. However she'd also extremely loyal and honest. Most of the time she's content to sit back and observe other people however she does have the tendancy to maintain initial dislikings for people.
Short Bio: Both her father and mother are business managers meaning she was brought up by her grandparents, both of whom were probably more committed to her progress than her parents. She was almost always more interested in studying and reading books which became, in the end a bit of a problem and hence she had very few friends. On the whole she felt a lot closer to the characters she read about in books than the people she met in real life.
Her grandparents purchased an angel egg hoping it would be step in the right direction and that she might meet other people her age who were interested in the same sorts of things. It never really helped although Eloise did grow very close to the angel she created. The few friendships she did have, she managed to maintain.

Name: Morrigan
Angel Type: Power/Strength
Strengths: Her defence and balance are both extremely good, her attacks when they hit are extremely hard.
Weaknesses: Attack, she's a lot slower than the speed type angels and Eloise has to make up for this by predicting what the opponents next move will be.
Signature Move - Optional: Demons Spiral, a series of specially designed jumps and spins that allow her to perform a 360 kick in the air that is a lot faster than her usual kicks and punches.
Appearance: Morrigan has long dark purple hair, wears a purple leotard with a black belt and purple pants as well as purple gloves. Her eyes are both green.

Name: Mai Sasaki
Age: 12
Country Representing: Japan
Appearance: A little shorter and scrawnier than your average twelve year old but apart from that she's no astonishing beauty. She has reasonable long black hair, brown eyes and likes to wear bright colours.
Personality: She's generally and optimistic chatterbox, not to bright and often very ignorant and unaware of what she's saying. Although she's not the super competitive type she'll get very into anything things, in the most energetic ways possible.
Short Bio: Her parent own and run a bakery together, so she grew up with early mornings and lots of running around in bare feet. Although she didn't see much of her other relattives she's had a relatively happy childhood. She was never popular at school but had a fairly large group of friends. This was how she discovered angelic layer and, for someone with as much energy and idealistiv views as herself she couldn't resist the thought of controlling her own angel.

Name: Hidenka
Angel Type: Speed
Strengths: She moves very quickly on the layer and so her attacks are frequent.
Weaknesses: Defence and Strength, her hits don't inflict much damage on heavier angels and make defence trickier.
Signature Move - Optional: Her signature movement doesn't have a name, it is a circular jumping movement hopping from one side to the other around the opponent that makes it hard for them to hit her as well as giving her the power to inflict a harder hit.
Appearance: Small (like her deus) with a short green kimono style dress and a bow that looks like it's covered with fish scales. She has two dark brown ponytails and brown eyes.

Eloise concentrated as she watched Morrigan stand still in the layer. It was decidedly cool in the practise rooms which suited her. Eloise hated the heat. She glanced around carefully as five of the generic angels used for practise and controlled by the center began to cirlcle Morrigan. The moves were already programmed into them and there wasn't much of a challenge but it was better than nothing.

The first angel sprang, Eloise frowned and Morrigan turned, kicking him sharply in the stomach. He fell to the floor. The next four began to move. In several sharp movements they began their attack. Morrigan was reading, she slammed one in the stomach, he fell back toppling into another and Morrigan had time to spin around before launching herself at the other two. In several seconds the fight was over.

As Eloise waited for the next level of movements to be prgrammed in she scanned the room, wondering if any of the other reprasentatives were also rehersing for the tournament. She could see many other figures but couldn't recognize any of them as faces she'd seen in any of the newspaper articles. A cold metallic voice informed her she'd have to wait at least fifteen minutes before she could begin the next level, due to the crowds that were also waiting to train.

Eloise sighed in frustration as she returned her gaze back to Morrigan, who stood watching her calmly inside the layer.

Mai hadn't had to luck to claim a miniture layer to train on. She was waiting in line now, peeking out from either side of the line to get a view of who was next to be moved through. Hidenka was propped up on her shoulder, with the normal expression of blank indifferance that angels had when they weren't battling. Mai tapped her feet to the tune that was blaring just a little too loudly out of her i-pod, another handy device she'd picked up.

With a little spin that almost knocked the person waiting behind her over Mai moved forward several steps as yet another dues was admitted into the training rooms. At the very least the wait was looking to be a long one.
