None of the staff stopped Sophie as she walked past them. The Magician stepped into an elevator nearby and pressed several buttons on the wall. He didn't bother to tell Louise to follow him.

Louise did, tho. She was getting a bit impatient tho, of following endlessly and not being told anything. She wanted to know why she had these powers.

In the elevator the Magcician finally oblidged.
"Your in no danger of being emitted from the building, no one can see either of us, neither can they access my base, the 55th floor." He turned back to the row of buttons, none of them displayed the number 55.

"Oh. I did wonder," Louise said. "So, what happens when we reach the fifty fifth floor, then?"

"It diasappears like we do, a little trick of mine, reappearing on the next floor."

"Will you tell me about how I got my power then?" asked Louise.

"Of course, your power was given to you by a man incapable of teaching you to use it to the best of your abilities, for that very reason the government emitted him from their personal team of scientists earlier this year. The powers were delivered at random, and not only to you. There are at least six other teenagers out there facing the same problems. However he was able to track them down, though I imagine a few of them are still doubtful. Luckilly for you I have more experience in these areas, kill or be killed, sink or swim...and thinking about other people only leads to sinking," his voice hardened.

"I agree," Louise said. She had run away from home a few years earlier, cuz her mother had remarried, and Louise had hated her new stepfather. "Will you teach me how to use my powers?"

"Naturally." The elevator came to a stop.

Louise stepped out. "I also think that I deserve a lot more than I have. Why should other people have nice things, when they don't deserve them? I think I should have every right to have lots of money, and if that means stealing it then I don't care."
