Shadowstar led the survivors of Shadowclan along next to Stonetail.

"How exactly did you discover these caves?" Goldenstar asked Poppyfur as they walked. He had no intention of making his deputy feel bad and was simply curious as to how she had known of them.

[Miranda_]

Poppyfur looked to the ground, guiltily. "When the Twolegs came, I didn't fight them. I was so frightened, I ran away."

[Cheshire1996]

Goldenstar didn't say anything for quite a while.

Goldenstar eventually spoke. "We all do things we're amashamed of, mistakes, the like. I've done many things in my life I'm not proud of, but I learnt and moved on even though it still hurts. And something good has come out of all this, we have a safe place to travel too for now. Besides in the coming days I'm going to need a deputy with a good head on their shouders like yourself."

Poppyfur still didn't look at her leader. "I'm sorry. I just panicked and didn't think."

[Cheshire1996]

Goldenstar sighed. "Don't blame yourself, fighting would only have caused more suffering."

[Miranda_]

"I should have been there to help with things; I shouldn't have just run away."

[Cheshire1996]

"But surely if you promise yourself not to make the same mistake again you can be forgiven?" Goldenstar said gently.

[Miranda_]

"I don't know," Poppyfur said, sadly. "Can I ever forgive myself for leaving my clan in the lurch and running away to save myself?"

[Cheshire1996]

"That's a question only you can answer, I know that no matter how you feel the rest of the Thunderclan and I will forgive you, we Thunderclan kin don't abandon each other. In fact I would go as far as to say that that is what makes a clan truly strong. It's fine to stick with each other while things are going well, but by backing each other up during the harder times...that's what matters," Goldenstar smiled at Poppyfur.
