Zeus' face appeared to get grim. This was a ruse, of course; he was toying with Thoth. He seemed to glare at the tall, awkward Egyptian, and aid, "You wish to marry my daughter?" He stood and loomed over Thoth...

...and then burst into a huge, huge grin. "Good! About time you worked u the courage to do this!" he boomed.

"Coffee sounds wonderful," Josh sighed.

Thoth made a startled 'haww' noise and backed up a step, then about leapt out of his skin when Zeus grinned and actually fell onto the floor when he tried to get his balance back. XD "..wh-what?" He looked surprised, but happy. "I-I thought you... but... wha."

"Let's go," Set replied. "I'm done now, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be."

Josh stood and kissed Set's cheek. "I'm glad it went so well, then."

Zeus laughed his full, booming laugh. "You're right; at first, I didn't like you. To me, you were some weak-willed egg-head bullied into coming over by a rival civilization to gather facts. But when you actually came, your proved a lot of that false; you were amiable, curious, and sincere. Oh, you're definitely an egg-head, but not the sort that gets shoved into lockers.

"I knew instantly, however, that you wanted my daughter; you seemed to -ah, how to say this?- gravitate toward her, like a planet caught by a star. I didn't like it; Tina's very fragile inside, no matter how strong a front she puts up. Her heart never properly mended, and I was wary of suitors... and here you come along, gaping at her like a blind man seeing for the first time, and I'm suddenly on my toes.

"I'd give anything for my girl, including a possible alliance with another old, strong, a prosperous pantheon of gods. So I told you off, and I meant it; Athena needed more time to heal. But you sort of persisted by remaining friends, and I watched as she began to heal when you were around, step by step. You showed her what joy was like, what friendship was like, helped her chase away the shadows.

"It was maybe a little sad to watch you pining after her for so long, but, I'll be honest, I cared more about the fact that she was mending than the fact that you were hurting every time she turned around and smiled at you.

"And now? Well, look at her; she's chosen you, and no one was surprised except her, maybe. You picked her up and showed her the light when she was broken and when even I couldn't fix her. How could I turn you down? You're not only the one she'll want, but the one that's good for her, meant for her, even.

"Well, to, er, conclude this whole speech, f*ck yes, I approve of you with my daughter. So what the hell are you doing here still, boy? You got a girl to catch!"

Thoth just looked utterly dumbfounded and for once in his life, he was at a loss for any sort of words at all except "Right." Once he collected himself back into ordered thinking and got back to his feet, he smiled at Zeus. "Thank you, Zeus. I promise I'll take care of her." He bowed his head and quickly left, running into Sanya, who came upstairs and knocked on the door.

"Er, babe. I gotta get back home, there's." She sighed. "There's trouble at the office. I don't think either of us do well with long-distance relationships; I know you want to stay here with your kids." Sanya was a bit daft, but not stupid. "So... I'm going to pack my stuff up and head on home, okay?" She smiled. "It's been hella fun though with you. Sparky and all."

Set smiled and left with Josh to the nearest coffee place.

Horus was slipping deeper and deeper into madness; he no longer ignored the inner voice, but instead conversed with it where anyone could hear him.

Bastet was sharing her fears about Horus with Anubis. "... he's just been acting weirder and weirder ever since Isis announced she was pregnant. I'm terrified for her, Anu, I can't just sit here and not do nothing but he isn't actually doing anything."

Zeus nodded. "I understand, Sanya," he said. "I was wondering how to tell you, anyways."

Josh offered to pay.

Isis was concerned, but her methods seemed only to worsen things.

"Yet," Anubis replied. "However, I have overheard him talking to himself, and I feel that he might just decide to do something soon to make Isis lose the baby. We need to take steps to prevent that happening. I could put the little death on him as a temporary measure, but that wouldn't last forever and wouldn't cure his madness anyway."

[Silent_Wolf]

"I think he's just terrified that Isis is going to do to him what she did to you when he was born. I highly doubt it. It's a girl; Osiris is likely to take as much care of her as Isis does to Horus." She sighed. "Please do that. If he attacks Isis I can't be held responsible for my reaction. I doubt I'd actually kill him but I do not take kindly to children or mothers being assaulted. Especially not by blood-kin."

Sanya smiled, a bit sadly. "Just take care of yourself and tell Adam that I'm sorry I couldn't see Grease like I promised." She leaned up, pecked him on the cheek, and walked out of the room.

Kali was looking for a job out in town. She was rather glad her name could fit in just fine in America; people had weird names everywhere, like Apple and Gray and Blue and... good lord, just weird names.
