The Blackbirders {Reposted RP}

"A man and a woman," Vicki replied. "The man grabbed me, and his daemon grabbed Lukon, and we struggled to get free, then the woman told him to stop. She said that since my daemon had settled, I was too old and there was no point in taking me, so they let me go and ran away. I went to get a policeman, but by the time he got to the spot, the Blackbirders were gone."

"For some reason, they're after only children," Ruby said, her face lined with sadness. "No, not just children; children and their shifting daemons..."

[Miranda_]

"It's freaky," Vicki said.

Emmaline started to help Ruby find everything she'd need for travelling up North.

"They must be pretty messed up then," Nelle said. "To only go for little kids."

Ruby tanked her for all her hlep, and added, "How much should I pay Vicki for being our guide?"

[Miranda_]

Emmaline named a price. "I trust my daughter," she then said. "She'll do a good job, you can be sure of that." Her daemon nodded in agreement.

"Well, alright, thank you. Let's have each traveler try on the gear to be sure it fits... Rian?" she called.

[Miranda_]

Rian stepped forward, overcoming his nervousness at Emmaline's daemon. True, the daemon was a rook rather than a magpie, but he still was similar to Francis.

Ruby noted his nervousness, but thought that if she asked, he'd snap at her.

[Miranda_]

Maris whispered comfortingly in Rian's ear, "Don't worry; he's nothing like Francis." Rian looked marginally happier.

This was true; Emmaline's daemon Marley was a lot like her; looking fierce on the outside, but the opposite on the inside.
