Soon enough, they arrived at a large hotel, and Taka gaped at the fountain out front. She gently shook Phel to wake him. "Look! One of those water-thingies! And it's got fishies in it!"

Phelan looked blearily out of the window. "I don't think you're allowed to catch the fish in there, tho," he said.

Taka giggled. "I wasn't thinking of fishing, just saying that it's pretty."

[Miranda_]

"Yeah, guess it is," Phelan replied, still sleepy. He gave an enormous yawn. "Where do we go to sleep?"

Takaia linked her arm through his and pulled him up. "You just follow me, 'kay?"

Andre turned to look at them. "Whatever you do, try to walk in a manner as humanly possible as you can, understand? This place doesn't allow 'pets'," he said. "Phelan, you can act as tired as you want and lean a little on Taka, because people won't pay attention to how you walk if you look so tired."

Phelan growled slightly at the mention of "pets", but was too tired to argue the point, so he merely nodded.

Takaia herself didn't care much; if the only price for her to get a bed for once was to walk straight an unnaturally, who was she to complain? So they all exited the limo and headed for the front desk, where Andre got their keys.

Phelan just leant on Taka and followed Andre; he didn't care where he went, as long as he could get some rest.

Taka almost refused to get into the elevator, and clung to Phelan as it went up; she decided she did not like the little room that could move.

Eventually, they got to their room. They were on the third floor, with Corey and Laika in a room next door.
