"Right... well, unless he's around Taka, Taka soothes him somehow," Mina said. "Besides the whole mate-thing, that is; sex isn't magic, after all." Mina lifted her nose and sniffed tentatively. "Eltos is this way..."

"Come on, then," Todd said, before setting off to find Eltos.

Eltos was watching Mallika at that moment to give Antos a break.

[Miranda_]

Antos was sleeping, taking full advantage of the break.

Eltos was determined to make her break as long as possible. When he saw Mina and Todd, he waved them over.

"Oh, you're on cub-duty?" Mina said.

Eltos laughed. "I figured Antos needed a break; neither of us ever expected to raise our own cub... in this society, that sounds bad, but ti's the truth."

[Miranda_]

"It's different from what I know, too," Todd said. "Pets hardly ever raise their cubs; when they're old enough, they get sold."

Eltos looked grim at that. "That's just depressing to me."

"Anyways, Todd and I got some food... you want some?"

[Miranda_]

"After we share out the food, I need to talk to Corey about tins," Todd said. "Do you know where he is?"

"He's working with Takaia on human math, I believe," Eltos said.

"Eww, math," Mina shuddered.

[Miranda_]

"When he's done, tell him to come find me," Todd replied. "I need to know all about tins; we'll need to stockpile them."
