Todd looked up. "I'm bored," he said. "There's nothing to do here, and no-one to talk to."

"There's plenty to do, you just have to ask the right people," Eltos said gently but firmly. "And, if you do a task with someone else, you can try to talk to them."

[Miranda_]

"No-one's ever asked me to do anything. They probably think I can't do anything just cuz I used to be a pet," Todd said, angrily. "But that's not true. I can do lots of things."

"I'm sure you can learn more things, too. Come on, I'll find you something to help with," Eltos said.

Todd got up with bad grace. "It had better not be anything crap," he said.

"What would be the point? There's enough to do around here without giving you a fake job to placate you or anything like that... unless you mean a hard job. But they're all hard, in their own way; we'll have to find one that... fits you, I guess you could say," Eltos said.

[Miranda_]

"I'm not doing cleaning or looking after brats."

"I didn't think you'd want any of that," Eltos said.

"Well then. So what do you want me to do?" Todd asked, suspiciously.
