"Yes, and I'll need to rest up after this walk," Dolph said. "I'm not very keen on the guards who are staying with us; but at least we have a food supply while they're here and don't need to go and find it."

"I don't mind too much," Corey said.

"Well, you wouldn't. I and a lot of the other vigilantes would, cuz the guards were there when our home was destroyed."

Corey winced. "I'm sorry, Dolph, I didn't think about it in that light. That was... insensitive of me."

"No point in worrying about it now," Dolph muttered. "What's done is done and we can never get our home back, now."

"But, hopefully, if we earn ourselves some rights, then your traditions will live on, at least," Corey said.

"We can hope at least a few will; we've already lost so many."

"Like which ones?" Corey asked.

"You wouldn't understand, so there's no point in telling you," Dolph said. "I'm not saying that in a mean way; just that you wouldn't have a clue how it was like before so you wouldn't be able to compare. Before, I used to go out with the other hunters to bring down a deer for the pack to share. I fought my way thru the ranks to become second; I was one of the strongest in the pack and after the Eltos and Antos, the most respected. And what does that mean now? Nothing."
