[Miranda_]

Phelan turned. "Eltos. I suppose you wish to know about the latest newcomer to the camp." He told Eltos about Corey; including the all important fact that Corey could read.

[spirit_queen]

"He can read human letters? That's great." Eltos said, nodding. "He seems a bit... awkward, though, as though he's not used to dealing with people."

[Miranda_]

"Or with other canines. He's already tangled with Todd," Phelan said. "That was almost comical, seeing as Corey is much bigger."

Phelan could read a little, and write a few words; tho he was terrible at spelling.

[spirit_queen]

"I wonder why; it's like he's lived his life as a hermit, or something." Eltos said speculatively.

[Miranda_]

"He said he was a pet; but most pets do at least mix with people occasionally."

[spirit_queen]

"I suppose we could just ask." Eltos said.

[Miranda_]

"We'll leave him a day or so to settle in, first."

[spirit_queen]

"Sounds good to me." Eltos said. "How have you and Taka been getting on since she had Zeke?"

[Miranda_]

"Fine, thanks. I've been trying to let her have more freedom, but it's hard. I worry that something's going to happen to her or Zeke."

[spirit_queen]

"I'd tell you to relax, but I know from experience that, as a father, you have to sort of learn the ropes yourself. Though I dind't get to raise Taka, my first cub, I always watched over her, and I worried then just as you do now." Eltos said.
