"Maybe, I'll think about it." Silver reluctantly got up. "Guess I'd better go and try and get past your terrifying parents without suffering too much. See you later." He hugged Blaze one last time, and went to leave.

"Oh, look, he's finally leaving." Blaze's mother said to her father.

"About time; I'm beginning to wonder when she'll give up on him." He muttered.

[Miranda_]

Silver winced, but he was too used to the things that Blaze's parents said about him to comment. He just left the house in silence.

Blaze wished her parents would keep their thoughts to themselves.

*the next day, in the early afternoon*

Tails was sitting at the park, reading a book on quantum physics. He was sitting on a swing and was gently rocking back and forth in it as he read quietly to himself.

[Miranda_]

Knuckles' little brother Mace was also down the playing field. He was alone, and walked along, kicking at the trees. He was feeling angry with his brother for leaving home, his father for being too strict and his mother for neglecting him. He thought crossly that he'd had enough of his entire family. However, he couldn't release his pent up rage on them; he looked around for someone to do that to instead. Then he saw Tails. O_o

Tails didn't notice Mace at all.

[Miranda_]

Mace went up to Tails. "Hey, brainiac, what are you reading?" he said, looking over Tails' shoulder. "Looks boring; you probably think you're better than everyone now you're at high school."

Tails jumped; he hadn't noticed somebody was behind him. "I'm sorry, what did you say?"

[Miranda_]

Mace was even more annoyed by this; he thought that Tails was ignoring him.

"Maybe I'll just not bother talking to you and start hitting you, instead. You won't be able to ignore that."

"What? Why? I haven't done anything to you." Tails said. He looked a little alarmed.
