Knuckles was at first too surprised to react. This was the last thing he'd been expecting; he'd guessed that Eggman was around, but expected him to attack rather than this.

Eggman staggered for extra effect, then went to his knees. "Knuckles, oh, Knuckles, I need your help!" He sobbed, sounding absolutely terrified and desperate.

Knuckles stepped backwards, looking somewhat confused. "Um, why?"

"Because I hate this place, I absolutely loathe it, all I want is to go home!" Eggman cried. "But I'll never be able to do it on my own. Not with Sonic standing in the way..."

Sonic was at that moment, having a very bad dream about gigantic eggs exploding above the planet, and that they where filled with water. another component of the dream was dozens of freaky creatures with vast tentacles and cavernous maws being in the water.

"Waaahhh!! WAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!" He roared in his sleep.
"Giant eggs, So.. much.. water... DO NAAAWTT WWAAANNNTT! D|<"

"Sonic, wake up!" Amy shook his shoulders. "Wake up! It's just a dream!"

Knuckles looked at Eggman more seriously now. He knew exactly what Sonic was like. "What's Sonic doing to stop you leaving?"

Sonic woke up, and looked at her. "Uuuuhhh... What was I on about? O_O"

"He's gonna collect all the Emeralds to himself, so that only he can go home." Eggman said. "I coulnd't even get a hold on one, which is all I need to get us all back. And I swear, Knuckles, I will bring us all back, and everything can go back to normal. I can to back to tinkering with my various technologies, and you can go back to Angel Island, and everyone else can go home, too." He sobbed some more. "But how can I do that when Sonic would stop at nothing to ensure I can't get my hands on a single emerald?"

"Something about giant eggs..." O_o
