Iblis didn't know what the object was, so didn't look impressed. "What's that, then? And just how is it special?"

"I'll show you," Mephiles said. He fiddled with it a bit and checked it over, then turned it on.

Ooc: will you play NICOLE, or shall I?

[Miranda_]

Ooc: Can you?

Iblis watched as the power flickered on, still not very impressed.

The screen of the device showed a brown-furred lynx girl with green eyes and black hair. "Sally?" the lynx stared at Mephiles, clearly seeing that he was not, in fact, Sally Acorn.

"As you can see, I am not your original owner. But, if you do as I say, you may well be reunited with her; of course, it also depends on Sally herself and how she behaves," Mephiles said.

"I will acquiesce... for now. In the meantime, I have searched my database, and you are not here at all. Might I inquire as to your identity?" Nicole asked.

"I will tell you no more than that my name is Mephiles," Mephiles replied.

[Miranda_]

"And I'm Iblis," Iblis put in, leaning forward. This was far more interesting than he'd previously thought.

Nicole jumped in her screen, and stared at Iblis.

Mephiles sighed and looked over at Iblis. "Oh, so now you're interested?"

[Miranda_]

"I didn't realise this piece of junk did this," Iblis said. "Bet she's never heard of me, either."

[spirit_queen]

"Junk? I'll have you know, sir, that I am a highly sophisticated form of artificial intelligence," Nicole said, for a moment forgetting her fear.

"If she didn't know me, she doesn't know you," Mephiles said, ignoring Nicole. "This device is as it says; artificial intelligence, and also companion to none other than Sally Acorn."

[Miranda_]

"So maybe she'd be amenable to paying over something to getting it back, in that case," Iblis said. "I could send my new pet with a message, if you like."

[spirit_queen]

"I was thinking much the same thing," Mephiles said, managing a mouthless maniacal grin.
