The orders were to take the beast alive, and relatively unharmed if possible. They didn't want to attract any attention from animal rights groups after all.

One policeman was waiting by the park, knowing that the beast frequented the park.

[Miranda_]

This was indeed where Silver, as the werehog, went. The park was almost empty of people, save the police; people knew that the beast was around, and were staying inside.

The policeman closest to Silver, a guy named Dan Black, lifted his tranq gun and aimed carefully before shooting at Silver.

[Miranda_]

Silver growled, and pulled the dart out of his arm, crushing it. The trank had little or no effect on him and he turned and ran at the man who'd fired it, teeth and claws bared.

The man ran, obviously. XD several over policemen nearby fired at Silver then as he ran past.

[Miranda_]

Eventually, the amount of trank affected Silver and he dropped to the ground.

A nearby police officer signalled to his collegues. "Get the restraints on it. I don't know how long it'll be out." He also called on a radio for people to come with the van so that the beast could be transported to the station.

One police officer put a metal collar on Silver, with a chain attached so that the beast could be tethered.

Eventually, the van arrived, and Silver was loaded into the van.

A cell had been prepared to house the beast, at least for the moment. The police didn't want the beast to be on public display, so the zoo was out of bounds. Their main priority was to protect the public.

When the van arrived at the police station, several police, sweating and straining, dragged Silver to the cell and locked him in. The end of the chain was fixed to a ring in the wall. A bowl of water was put in, and that's when the police left Silver alone.
