Shadow, despite his usual speed, was there after Rouge. "What is Eggman doing here?" And why are you giving him the Emerald?

"What? Knuckie, who told you that? You really need to stop believing everything others tell you." Rouge said, reaching for the Emerald.

"Eggman told me himself," said Knuckles, holding the Emerald just out of Rouge's reach. "And it makes sense; look at how Sonic is acting."

Sonic took more tentative steps through the rain, and then it began to to weaken and fall more lightly. Sonic broke into a rather slow run, one a human could have matched with luck.

"Eggman is lying, then! And besides, that's my Emerald! If you really want to give him one, you could have chosen one that wasn't MINE." Rouge was still trying to reach the Emerald. xD

At this point, the rain stopped altogether, and sonic sped up and was beside knuckles in an instant. This time he wasn't playing around, and rammed attacks at knuckles.

"It'll be worth it to get home, surely?" Knuckles still held it out of her reach, but didn't give it to Eggman. He wasn't completely convinced. He punched Sonic with his free hand.

Cream was bugging Tails to take her to the flower patch again. XD

"Don't be so gullible, Knuckie, he's lying!" Rouge said desperately. "What about all the other Emeralds? Are we just supposed to leave them here? Eggman wants all the Emeralds - he wouldn't leave 6 of them here!"

"He said he only wants one," said Knuckles, wavering. He looked at Eggman, and back at Rouge again. Could she be right?
