"Tho, if you did come with us, you could get away from your parents. Plus you'd be safer with us than with them," said Rian.

"My parents probably wouldn't even notice if I left. If you put me in a room with a hundred other kids and they had to say which was their daughter, I doubt they'd actually guess right. They'd get home and realize something was missing, but then they'd shrug it off and do more work. That's all they ever do anyway. They just work." Scarlett sighed. She looked at the others, "I'll go with you."

"Good," said Rian. "My mum wouldn't care that I was gone; she never does anything anyway. We're going to save the kids from the Blackbirders."

"Sounds like it'll be hard." Scarlett muttered. She really did want to save other children from the Blackbirders - for she had almost been kidnapped herself - but at what cost?
