Darin shrugged. "At least you didn't live in my time. Everyone around would have had nothing to do with you. That's what happened to my mother; this man promised to marry her, then dumped her when she got pregnant."

"I've heard back then women that had sex before marriage and got pregnant automatically were called prostitutes and stuff. Back in grade 9 my English teacher mentioned how Shakespeare got his girlfriend pregnant so they had to marry before the child. Only thing is I was raped and had no control. My boyfriend and I were always safe."

"Wouldn't matter if it was rape; a mother would still be shunned if she wasn't married. Times have changed for the better since then."

Darin shrugged indifferently. "As I said before, I don't know what happened to my child. Hopefully they weren't too damaged by their father and their mother's husband both dying violently."

Phoebe wasn't listening by now but more observing the family. She liked to hope that one of these families would be nice and give them all hope. She finally turned back to the group. "Well, I'll take the living room and the boy's room. He seems like fun to scare."

Sammi took her stuff up to the a nice sized room that was kinda small. It had a bay window and only three windows. It was also the closest one to the attic.

"I'm hoping that at least one person goes down to the cellar. That's a good place to install terror into people, what with the indelible bloodstain and the atmosphere of it."
