Jenny crossed her arms over her knees, looking around and she sighed, resting her chin on her arms; she was getting tired and bored, and she was ready to doze off.

Next to the bird sat a delicat little thing, with long ears and jet-black hair that, if it was properly washed, would look soft as silk. Her eyes were wide-set, big, round, and black as the midnight sky. She had rather tiny lips. Her golden skin combined with these other features to reveal her as half oriental half deer, sold from lands far away. Indeed, her English was broken and choppy, but she could understand some good bit.

All she really wanted was a good home, though she knew she was setting herself up for disappointment. But hope was a stubborn thing, and it bloomed within her like a blossom at spring.
