"Oh! Shauny-boy! What have you been up to?" Cecy said, recognizing her son's voice immediately. "I mean, you have two children several months old now, and haven't told me this long? Oh! I feel betrayed!" Cecy was a bit of a drama queen at times.
Shaun wasn't really sure how to explain this. "Well, we've been kind of busy with stuff; I don't get that much paternity leave, so I guess I just wanted to spend as much time with the kids as I could before going back to work."
"So... who's the girl? I didn't get a picture of her." Cecy's voice got more pleasant... or unpleasant to the point of acting like she would be smothering Shaun if she were over there. "I mean, it seems you finally found yourself someone to settle down with! I'm so happy for you, Shauny-kins!"
"Oh! you simply must do so right away! I want to meet her, too." A smile could he heard in her voice. Then she chuckled. "Though sometimes I wonder if anyone could ever be good enough for you, my bubby-boy."
Lindsey was listening into to their conversation through another phone and giggling as silently as she could. His mom was so embarrassing, she found it hilarious.
