"Be- because it's stupid of me to th-think you'll one day love me... you're about as straight as a circle," Nephthys said with an awkward laugh that sounded suspiciously like a sob. "So- it's time for me to grow up and move on, and to stop pestering you for attention."

[Miranda_]

"That's true enough," Set replied. "I shouldn't have even married you. But Isis wouldn't take no for an answer, and I couldn't tell her the real reason why I didn't want to."

[spirit_queen]

"Yeah... she sc'rewed everyone up, didn't she? But it's too late now, so... I don't know what to do anymore," she said in a smal voice. She looked suddenly bereft, lonely, and vulnerable; all that anger at Set had bee a coping mechanism, and now it was suddenly gone.

She felt utterly worthless, talentless, and unwanted. Mental instability seemed to run in the family, and at that moment, depression set in to smother Nephthys.

Helena sensed this, but refrained from speaking; what wanted to see if Set noticed. It would speak well of his social improvements if he tried to reach out to her in some way.

[Miranda_]

"Look, it's not your fault, honest it's not," Set said, awkwardly.

"There's no need to get depressed. We can still be friends; I know that's a cop-out, but maybe I should have told you earlier."

Weakly, Neph went over to him and hugged him, burying her head in Set's shoulder. She dind't know how to go on and, after blubbering for a moment, finally managed to ask just that; "H-hooow 'm-I zzp-posed t' g-get ovver dis?" She admired him for being able to move past the family hatred, the depression, and to make a new life for himself. she wished she could do the same.

[Miranda_]

"Maybe if you could just talk it thru, you'd feel better. And Aphrodite could help you with your depression, she's got experience with that."

Set hugged Nessa back. He was of course referring to Horus, but didn't want to say his name at all if he could help it, not til he got his apology.

Neph nodded, sniffling. "I'm just not good at anything," she whispered.

"Oh, Lord, Nephthys, you sound like Set now; that's what he said until I pressured him into modeling, where he met his Joshy," Helena said, speaking up at last.

"But I'm not," she protested.

[Miranda_]

"There's got to be something you're good at," Set replied.

"Aphrodite's right; I never thought I could do anything, either. But I found something I could do, and you will, too."

[spirit_queen]

"Come on, let's get you something to eat," Aphrodite said consolingly.

"No- no- I, I have leftovers I need to finish. Um- you guys are welcome to some of it, if you like. I make it all myself," she said.

"Sure, if you like," Set said, making an effort to be friendly.
