So they went downstairs and found Lindsey sitting on a chair just beside the door, reading.

[Miranda_]

"Mum, Rika and I are just going down the road. We won't be back too late, so don't worry."

[TheHayleyDoll]

"Whatever you want, Dustin. But I need to talk to you first. Alone."

[Miranda_]

Dustin gave Rika a sideways glance. "I won't be long; just wait for me, OK?"

[TheHayleyDoll]

Rika nodded and stepped outside.

Lindsey looked up at Dustin, "Is Rika being good to you?"

[Miranda_]

"Of course she is. Why wouldn't she be?" Dustin replied, a little too quickly.

[TheHayleyDoll]

"Dustin, I think your own mother should know the honest answer."

[Miranda_]

Dustin wavered. He couldn't lie to his mother; he loved her too much to even consider it. "She cheated on me once, but it doesn't matter. I got over it."

[TheHayleyDoll]

"Are you sure it was only once? I don't mean to sound disrespectful to her parents, but if she's anything like either of them it'd be more then that. And is that why you cut yourself?"

[Miranda_]

"I don't know if it was more, but that's the only time I know about and I don't want to know if it was more. And it just hurts so much, it's the only way to stop it hurting inside."
