"This is starting to sound like the types of arguments my parents' have."

"How come? And I don't want to argue; I just want you to understand. I don't want to date you and be constantly worried that you're going to go off and sleep with someone better looking than me."

"It's not that he's better looking. Really. And because my dad and mom fight over her cheating sometimes. Except that he doesn't take the anger out on himself, but the other guy. I do understand, I guess. And I'm real sorry."

"Just promise you won't do it again."

"I can't. I just can't..."

Eventually, Svana just left the room, feeling terribly confused and just a touch grouchy.

Dustin sighed and said nothing. He didn't see the point of pushing it, but doubted very much that he wouldn't ever cut himself again. After all, there was no incentive for him to stop if Rika was going to keep cheating on him. But he loved her so much, he didn't want to lose her.

Xander got up long enough to go to his room, finding that it hurt really, really bad to uncurl his fingers, due to the scabbing on his hands.
