James finally stopped eating, and sat back on the bench. He surveyed his new classmates with interest, untill the dark haired boy with the green eyes, glasses, and lightning-bolt shaped scar on his forhead caught James' attention. I can't believe Im in the same house as Harry Potter James thought, then absently wondered if his parents would even know who that was. As James looked around the Great Hall, a boy reading caught his attention. James smiled to himself, as he was an avid bibliophile himself (that's nerd talk for someone who loves books). James watched as the boy quietly got up and left the hall, wondering where he could possibly be going.

Ooc: That is a Mary Sue. The name is a dead giveaway; long, flowery names like that are the trademark of a Mary Sue. The Slytherins would not act that way, especially not towards a newbie that they didn't know of at all. McGonagal wouldn't act that way either; she'd give anyone who backtalked her like that detention. Finally, you're giving way too many details about appearence; and none at all about personality. You need to have character faults like clumsiness, bad temper, bad social skills, laziness, being a poor loser, being grumpy, being irritiating. When you've changed your Sue and first post, then you can be considered to have joined this. This Newbies RP is here for a reason; so that people new to RPing can be given instruction on how to make realistic characters and RP properly.

Appearance: Brown hair with a wave to it. Never seen without a book in hand, usually fantasy
Personality: Seems strange, because she reads alot, but once you get past that, she can be quite pleasant.

She knew she was late. She had been left alone in the hall as they took away the stool and had stood alone in the gap between tables, blushing. The lady with a strict face and tight bun had seen her standing there and quickly figured out that she had skipped her. She had put the stool back up and placed the hat on her head, which, to her dismay, had declared her a Gryffindor.

“Dang” she thought again, taking out a book.

Character Bio Outline: A half blood (muggle mother and wizard father), but her father had disappeared when she was just a baby and so she lived as a muggle with her American mother in the Scottish highlands in a nice, small cottage. She devaloped a love for books at a very young age, and reads very often...perhaps partially due to her being homeschooled. It's been said she's wise beyond her years and she herself doesn't doubt that. Her intelligence has given her a sort of pride, and she tends to be extremely anti-social...Her mother's family comes from Sicily and she also is known to have a fierce temper at times.

House Desired (Ravenclaw, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor): Ravenclaw

Gender: Female

Age: 11

Appearance: Dark brown hair, almost black / medium brown eyes with flecks of green in them / very pale skin, you can see veins in places / on the shorter side...about '5"2 / always paints her fingernails black.

Personality: Unnoticably (most of the time) proud, and because she believes most people to be pathetic, ignorant, and dull, tends to be anti-social. However, she's very nice and talkative and funny if she befriends you...and is not an uncaring person at all. She's been called 'goth' more than a few times, but that doesn't really fit her that well. Is a calm person.

Class (as in Pure Blood, Half Blood, or Muggleborn): Half-blood.

Strengths (as in subjects and non-subjects): Potions, Transfigurations, Defence Against the Dark Arts, & Charms.

Weaknesses (as in subjects and non-subjects): Divinations, Care of Magical Creatures, & History of Magic.

Most of the new students had been sorted already, but Elizabeth Ricci was one of the few still left waiting to be sorted. She watched as the student who had gone before scampered off to their new house table, so obvioiusly anxious to get out of the center of attention. Liza could cope with being the center of attention - she was more worried about which house she would go to, and how they would recieve her. She had been scorned and scoffed at plenty of times by her village 'playmates' before she came to Hogwarts...She wasn't about to be pushed around here. However, she didn't have much time to dwell because just then the rather severe-looking woman in green robes called out, "Ricci, Elizabeth!"
Liza walked as calmly and steadily as she could up to the old three-legged stool and sat down, waiting for the hat to be placed on her head. It came down qucikly afterwards, and soon all she could see was the inside of the brim. Then suddenly she started, as a smooth voice began speaking in her ear.
"Ah....Elizabeth Ricci...A very strong mind, oh heavens, yes....but so proud and scornful, willing to hate so...You'd do well in Slytherin, no doubt about that at all. But, oh! What is this? You've got compassion.....and you're not very cunning at all....No, besides, your mother seems to be a muggle -pity....Well, I suppose....RAVENCLAW!"

And just like that, Liza was off the stool and walking fast towards the Ravenclaw table, a sea of clapping and cheering blue and bronze. She took an empty seat near the front of the table and began to half-heartedly people-watch. In the back of her mind, though, she was thinking about the curious air of power emanating from the tall, silver-bearded man at the center staff table, and how she didn't like that old, dirty hat much.

Appearance: Pretty plain. Regular black hair tied into a long ponytail, blue eyes, and always pouting.
Personality: Usually is whiny and a jerk to everyone. Can be a friend to you if you do her favors. Never has had any type of crush until this first year at Hogwarts (she secretly likes Ron Weasly, who doesnt like her too much).

Firstly, all characters in this RP are 11 years old. They don't have crushes, cuz we are going by canon. Ever heard of it? Second, you have not filled out the form properly; please do. Finally, your character is still a bit Sueish along with being too thin and inaccurate; Slytherin muggleborns do not call themselves mudbloods and are in fact very rare; it's very unlikely that a muggleborn sorted into Slytherin would be as you described, as muggleborns are unlikely to be sorted there in the first place. You seem to be labouring under the impression that all Slytherins are nasty. Please read the first page and fill out the form I posted, not one of your own making.

Character Bio Outline: Her mom was just a muggle and her dad was just a regular student at Hogwarts. Now she is following in both footsteps. When she was 9 she was told she wasn't normal, leaving her a little handicap at wizardry. Doesnt live under a "rich" family, more under the "middle class".

Appearance: Dark black hair pulled back in a tight ponytail. Has light blue eyes. Has "chicken legs" as some ppl would call it. Has a bag with 50 buttons on it.
Personality: Quiet, different, and loves quiditch. Ppl usually underestimate her, which is pretty easy to do. Collects buttons. Even though she is quiet she can throw terrible tantrums.

You may want to edit your post to say DADA then, or people might get confused. Also, when you RP, don't make other people instantly like your character; that's not realistic.
