Catlover, please stop spamming up the Newbies RP. If you don't quit it, you will be kicked from the RP. What's the point of joining a Harry Potter RP if you don't like the books? Also, everyone who posts in this RP has to abide by the rules of the Harry Potter universe. If you don't wish to do this, then don't bother posting. This is final; don't PM me asking me about this.

"Please no Slytherin, Please, Please, Please!" Thought Sakura.
" Hmm, Very Brave. Oh, but also smart. Ravenclaw? No, I think you'll be in-- GRYFFINDOR!" shouted the sorting hat. "Yes!" I shouted. Then I rushed to a seat in at the long Gryffindor dinig table and munched on a cookie whil watching the rest of the sorting ceremony.

Your character needs work, as does your opening paragraph. Both have glaring mistakes in them, and your character is far too perfect. The following is what you need to change about your character/opening paragraph before both are acceptable.


1. The Harry Potter books are set in England, not Japan. Please give your character an English name, and not a ridiculously elaborate one, either.

2. Your character can NOT be "half mermaid." If you'd actually read the books, you'd know that the merfolk in the HP universe do NOT mix with humans and in fact, rarely ever encounter them unless humans dive down to the depths of the lake. They also speak Mermish, their own language so it's highly unlikely that a crossbreed could occur. In any case, this kind of crossbreed is reminiscent of a Mary Sue. In the books, "half blood" refers to a muggle born/pure blood mix. Most wizards are human, with rare exceptions.

3. Your character is far too perfect. It's very unlikely that a first year would be proficient in either Transfiguration or Defence Against The Dark Arts, as both are very difficult subjects. The same goes for Potions; especially given Professor Snapes prejudice against Gryffindors. Please be more realistic.

4. You have not listed a single personality fault AT ALL. Everyone has personality faults; a perfect character is a Mary Sue, and Mary Sues are banned from the RPG forum, as you'd know if you'd actually read the rules. Personality faults are not things like "She was so perfect all the girls were jealous"; but things like jealousy, greed, laziness, brattiness, selfishness, clumsiness, untidiness, bad temper, spite. Please include at least three.

5. You need to list at least three subject weaknesses. You have not listed any. No-one is good at everything; I doubt that you are.

6. The Sorting Hat only usually speaks to the student it's sorting, cept when it sings its song and announces the student's house to the school. Professor McGonagal announces who's next for sorting.

7. What your character said was what Harry Potter said. Please be original, don't just copy bits from the books for your character.

8. The RP is in THIRD PERSON, ie he said/she said. Stick to that, don't keep shifting into first.


Finally, please read the stickies; don't just skim thru them. If you keep on breaking the rules laid down for this forum, you will be punished. The rules are for everyone to abide by, and if you don't like them, then leave.

Emma sat down quietly. They had just finished sorting and she was really really hungry. She was worried about potions class, barely passing it last year. She was also a little happy that this was a new year, and she could get organized. She studied as hard as she could this summer and was hoping that she WOULD pass potions. It was in her head all day. Her mom gave her a big lecture and was hoping that would never happen again.
She grabbed a chicken, and then poked it with her fork. She had nothing better to do. She was getting ready for a brand new year.
