Forum Contributer is like a level. It goes~Newbie, Forum Contributer, Addict, Professional, Guru, and then, if you're lucky, Forums Moderator (Support must ask you). They go up automatically by posts (Excluding Mod).

Simply click "My Account" link at the top of the screen... select "Edit Profile" and scroll down to "CSS Area"... you will find a lot of color selectors on the right.
