I think Miley Cyrus is a product of her surroundings, and the life she's been presented. A lot of people forget Miley Cyrus has never had a "normal life" like Hannah Montana or her TV show character Miley "something-or-other" I don't know the characters last name. In fact, her whole life has been as managed and staged as a Disney production. Since she was a little girl, she has been surrounded by cameras and immersed in the world of performance. The clean cut teen image was precisely that: an image created, managed and assiduously maintained by Miley and her parents. In a way you can say she has always been Hannah Montana.

The simple fact is she is a celebrity, she is a millionaire, and thats also just the age we live in. Like I said before her whole image was this "squeaky-clean all American girl type" and so the first sign of her doing anything not attending to that image people are going to point and chastise her for things the average 15 year old would do (granted I'm not including posing topless in magazines xD).

As for the picture, I feel it wasn't really in her best interest to do this either, and someone should have put on their adult pants and suggest a different "outfit" or that it wasn't the best of idea's for a 15 year old rising "pop princess", then one has to think someone had to of seen the backlash coming and who doesn't like a good scandal to bring in the press ? Though I don't know if I agree that the picture is all that awful, you don't see her front, she's wearing pants, and its just her back.

The problem with being famous for playing a "wholesome, aw shucks" kind of character is that for a good part of her life people are going to compare her to a person who is just made up. In weird way people are always going to compare her to "herself".

I don't like Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus, and understand that she has done some "bratty" things but, she is at that age, and she is a billionaire. Some unruly behavior shouldn't be such a shocker, plus Hollywood/magazines take(s) things out of proportion all the time. We see these same things happen to lots of celebrities and it will continue to happen.

I dont think that photo was racy at all. All you could see was her back, ive seen much more on that on many girls younger than her down at the beach. But then a more conservative person might see it as offensive.

We are no longer talking about Miley's Vanity Fair shoot, you two. I'm talking about the images posted on her MySpace and found on her cell phone. The Vanity fair one wouldn't have been bad at all - if she were a few years older. I don't understand why she did the shoot. Her target audience doesn't read Vanity Fair anyway. I'm pretty sure 5 year old girls don't subscribe to Vanity Fair.

Have either of you seen the MySpace ones? Do either of you know she's dating a 20 year old UNDERWEAR model?

Besides, saying "Oh, she can't help it, it's cuz she's a celebrity, blah blah" is a load of bull. As is making the excuse that cuz her father's a celebrity, then she's somehow got to be in the public eye. Aimee Osbourne chose to opt out of The Osbournes and avoids the public eye. There are plenty of young teen stars who don't run around whipping their tops off at every opportunity. To suggest that Miley is somehow blameless for the choices that she made is ridiculous, like the whole "blame everyone cept for me" American culture that is seeping into other cultures. No-one forced her to have racy photos taken; therefore, any negative results that happen cuz of them are entirely her fault and up to her to deal with.

I didn't read any of the other posts in this thread, so maybe you weren't talking about vanity fair but I was, thats just a general debate about her...

And yes I did see the pictures and yes I know she dating someone older then her, just because someone defends something doesn't mean they are ignorant to all the "criticizing actions"

The pictures with Miley and her friend sharing a twizzler or something ?, posing together and goofing around. How many other 15 year old girls on myspace have those same kind of pictures or girls even younger ? Just in the same way young girls look up to her and see the things she does, I'm sure Miley was looking up to these other stars seeing the things they did and wanted to copy or even other people in her life. And as for her boyfriend, lots of people date older, way older, so its nothing new and what does being an underwear model have anything to do with it ? Would it have been any worse if he was just some 20 year old she randomly meet ? And the Article wasn't for 5 year olds it was for adults to read about her, infact the article was more from her fathers word then her own.

And Miley Cyrus plays on a sitcom where her name is in the credits. When the show became popular Disney set up interviews for Miley and she was on the red carpet and hosting award shows, how is she not going to be in the public eye ? Aimee Osbourne chose not to be a part of a reality tv program there's a big difference. Not many people even knew Aimee existed in the first place, besides she was in some of the episodes her face was just blurred out and her name wasn't put in the credits.

And how many chances has she been given to take her top off ? Just the one and she apologized for it.
Miley hasn’t shown herself to be accountable for most of her decisions yet, but I think we’ve made it incredibly hard for her to be.

Stop looking at her as some saint and know she is going to make some mistakes. She's a teenager for Christ sake grow some sense, I'm sure its not that easy to be a teenager in the publics eye. When I see pictures of her drinking, smoking and getting arrested, then I'll be worried.

Well, congratulations. I have nothing to say to you. You think that those pictures were normal for people her age, then... well... you must live in a very odd part of the world. Opps, I forgot. You are American after all. Out of all the Canadians I've ever talked to about it, 0 have said it was 'normal' teenage stuff. They all agree: Miley's a f*cking Disney sl*t.

Adults don't like Miley Cyrus. Have I ever heard an INTELLIGENT adult listen to Sl*tty Cyrus? No. I haven't. So why would Miley even do a Vanity Fair shoot? She's a teen popper, and that's all she ever will be.

--- Sorry. Look, I'm not a nice person. Unlike Miley Cyrus, I'm not going to mention how I'm an incredibly role model. Why? Because I'm not. I don't think people should look up to me, at all. However, I will admit that I'm as stubborn as a mule and nobody could convince me that Miley Cyrus is a "good, average, girl". Unless they say that she was at gun point during all those pictures she took, then hell. My mind is made up.

You'll realize that I'm right when Miley does become the new Britney Spears or Lindsey Lohan. I'm not always right, but I am consistently correct.

I was looking though magazines at a store today and one of them had stars without make-up on the cover. It had Miley Cyrus on it but at first I didn't know it was her, she looked so much like a boy, or should I say she looked like her father....

AmericanRag, I can say quite honestly that acting like a tart is not something all teenage girls do, and nor is it something that should just be shrugged over and forgiven.
Also, it was more then one time that she took dirty pictures, most of them of her volition.
