Blindness -

Now, I saw this on another board and I thought I might ask you people.
What's it like being blind? Ask your friends! And tell me what you think blind people see.

It is extremely difficult. You have to use braille and rely on hearing. I belong to the Special Education unit and I have a friend who is completely blind. She requires much assistance and cane. Though she is a very funny person and ever so kind. I love talking to her. She knows me well now

So you're blind? Hm. Now I have a question. Somewhere I read that if you don't have one sense (lets take sight) aren't your senses of hearing, touch, taste, and smell slightly more heightened?

Ergh, didn't have my contacts in. But I'd take deafness. I wouldn't be able to bear with being blind.

Tbh, if you didn't have anything in your life that expressly required eyesight (EG art/drawing/whatever) Then it wouldn't be THAT bad. I'd rather go without my legs than lose any of my senses. I need all of them for my career. I mean, I need to know what my food is supposed to taste like, look like, I need to know when the oven beeps when the cakes are done and I have to use my sense of touch to know when the fondant is soft enough.
I'd be royally effed over if I lost any of my senses. ._. I KNOW THE PIECES FIT, CAUSE I WATCHED THEM FALL AWAY, MILDEWED AND SMOLDERING.

Hnn..still, I'd take deafness. I draw, write, and other stuffs. What do I use hearing for? Listening to my parents yell XD.

I know 4 deaf people who belong to the same unit as me and they cannot talk. But those who are partially deaf can. It's hard no matter what. One of the students became deaf from an illness.
