I think that's a bit of a stretch and is meant to scare you from drugs, which you shouldn't do anyways, but its the wrong way to teach you.

Most of the drug arrests in the US are for marijuana possession, a soft drug which actually has no long-term side effects and can help your health. Emerging research suggests it may help to prevent cancer and it is legal in quite a few countries, whose crime rates are lower than US ones. Drug usage isn't nearly as common as teachers would like you to believe, there really are only a small percentage of people arrested for drug crimes compared to the population every year, most of them only for possession, not for other crimes.

Despite what your teacher says, according to US crime statistics(depending on which one you go for), crime rates are down. Also, the usage of drugs is down. It seems on the surface they are connected, but crime is much more complicated than that. Claiming the two are connected is something someone who is not educated about crime statistics says. Yes, some crimes are done while under the influence, however, there are many causes of crime, yet few answers. People think it is biological, psychological, society, the family. You can name something and it'll be connected somehow.

The summarize, drugs are not massively connected to crime and I think your teacher is misinformed. I don't want you to think that means there aren't drug-related crimes, there are, but they are not the majority or very common.

Also, to clarify, the reason rape is connected to drugs is not because of the offender, but the usage of them. Sometimes people use drugs recreationally and are more prone to becoming a victim, sometimes the offender uses drugs to make them susceptible. The offender is usually not the one using drugs(though there are cases), its usually the victim who falls prey to a roofie or something similar. Date rapes involving drugs(other than alcohol) aren't common, acquaintance rapes are more common and involve friends or family taking advantage of the victim. That simply is more hysteria your teacher told you with the whole "drugs cause rapes" business.

I'm sorry, but this hysteria about drugs(what they really mean is pot) is ridiculous and old school. Efforts should be focused on alcohol, that is by far more dangerous and causes more deaths than drugs every year.

Is it really worth it, doing drugs to re-leave stress & make you happy and all?

Below the influence. Still higher than you.

*Major Roll-Eye* We were forced to watch this weird movie called "The Boy That Was Swallowed Up By The Drug Monster" Apparently he smoked a "Magic" pipe when his parents got divorced, then he licked a weird paper and saw butterfly. Then one of his dinos came to life and swalled his spirit, and he became addicted. At the the vid showed the real dude in jail. Wow, that's great...

**** doesn't make you trip. It's not a hallucinogen.

The most it can do is make you a bit nervous, but I've hardly ever seen a nervous pot head. Typically it calms you down.
My parents have smoked it since before I was born. Lol. Trust me. It doesn't make you trip, and if it does, then you're not smoking just pot.

I don't think that **** is a bad drug and I really don't believe that our government should have outlawed it.

They outlaw a harmless plant, but allow alcohol, which is way more dangerous. And I would sooner smoke pot than a cigarette.

I think that it's outlawed for the same reasons prostitution is outlawed. The government can't tax it.

If I treated you bad, you'd bruise my face. Couldn't love you more you got a beautiful taste. Don't let the days go by...glycerine.

If **** made you trip, Kara, then the **** was mixed with something, which isn't too uncommon. I've heard similar stories where people have gotten bad **** and it made them trip awfully. Its actually a huge argument for legalization of it because people mix it together with hard drugs and legalizing it would keep it "pure" (and safer).

Well, the smell of illegal drugs is absolutely fetid. The people my teacher said she known who did drugs, that most of them didn't even make it to their 30s.

That's a load of rubbish. Sounds like propaganda to me; I know a lot of people who've done drugs in their time, including one guy who used to be a "flower power" hippie, and none of them are addicts or dead. Your teacher is obviously using scare stories to try and dissuade you and your friends from taking drugs; to my mind, that's a terrible idea. Far better to arm you with the facts rather than tell horror stories.

Well, part of the reason she said something about most of the people she said who got high did not make it to their 30s is because she didn't want to be responsible for someone getting high when she tries to get them to perform the rehearsal with the other students other than them going to their science class which happened to have a speaker in that day discussing drugs. =)
