Needlephobia

Ok well, the title pretty much says it. I have SEVER needle phobia. Its like impossible for me to get shots and stuff like that. I usually faint then I am freaked out and allert the rest of the day to the point where if some one touches me I turn around and hit them. I no it sounds really weird. When I get shots and stuff I tell my self there doing me good but i cant help it! In science I fainted when there was a pic of a needle in my science book. I really need to get help with this. Any thoughts?

I kind of know how you feel, but my phobia wasn't nearly as bad; I just absolutely freaked out when I had to go to the hospital though, because they had to take bloodwork. However, the nurse who did it actually knew what she was doing, and I barely felt anything.

If you ever have to get something done, like shots or something, ask if you can have something to grab onto really really hard; it helps a little. Well, it did for me.

I know this sounds childish, but whenever I have to get a shot I bring one of my stuffed animals. not a big one of course, just A tiny one that you can grip tightly when getting the shot. Or, if you don't like stuffed animals, maybe bring a picture of a fun time or your favorite person to look at while you're getting the shot. Maybe you will not even feel the pain!

As for fainting at the sight of a needle.... Instead, think about the pic you were looking at or the animal you were holding. It might help a little.

And as for hitting people just tell them to leave you alone for a while untill you can calm down.

I hope my advice helps. Good Luck!

Exactly. Good advice.

if its at a point when youre reacting to a picture then stuffed toys arent going to be of any help to you.

Some councillors/psychologists specialise in phobias, alot of people, with their help, can get over their phobias.

My mom has needle phobia too. whenever she has to get blood work she squeezes my dads arm so hard he has nail indents in his arm.

you know what I am not afriad of needles what so ever and never have been. But a good way that the nurse always distracts me well she is giving me the needle is by talking a lot and when she like looks at be constantly its only natural to stare back thus avoiding the appearence of the needle

the point is you need something to distract yourself.

oh gosh, thats cool xD
i have needle phobia too but everytime they give me a shot they give me candy and sometimes their candy is just too sweet.

i usually just close my eyes and hang on to something idk, the wall, or the chair and say to myself "think happy stuff" again and again.
people say that they wont feel the pain but i can feel like a little pressure but its not that bad though its like a soft poke.

but i still don't like needles. its the thought that makes people scared.

who would be so cruel! to want a job that uses needles and poke people.
haha im just kidding.

I've always had a phobia of needles. Last time I had to go to the dentist, I was hyperventilating and crying cuz I was so scared. But I knew I had to have the shot, so I just stuck it out.

My worst experience was at school when we were having the BCG jab. The nurse doing the injections was a really horrible person; I told her that I was phobic, and she just brushed it aside. She was coming towards me with the needle, and I said, "Get away from me; I'm going to faint if you don't. I feel faint, please stop!"

She just ignored me and kept on coming... and I fainted. When I came round, I was asked if I wanted to have the jab later with another class, or to leave it and get it done privately with my family having to organise one. I chose to have the jab later, cuz I didn't want to cause any bother, but I didn't want that woman giving the jab to me. In the end, another nurse gave me the needle, but she was much nicer and talked to me the whole time so it wasn't so bad.

I've never been scared of the needles, just the pain. One time in Kindergarten I had to get two shots in my knees, and because I was sooooo over-dramatic I bawled for a really long time, then I told the nurses I needed crutches to get around ._. Then my mom bought me bryer horse unicorns and I went to see my horses, and all was well in my world :D
