But my legs went numb! I blame it on the fact that I had just gotten off my period and dind't think about that before walking in and donating.

I'm such a ditz, sometimes.

I strongly agree with blood donation. As a baby I had to have 6 life threatening ops and I required blood due to blood loss from the surgery. It's okay if you do not believe in donating but it should be allowed.

My mum donated blood the other day; I really wish I could but seeing as the sight of a needle would only send me into a panic attack, I really can't. As a needlephobic, I'd probably be told no, anyway; they wouldn't want to deal with a major panic attack and I'd just be incredibly traumatised from the ordeal. I know that sounds selfish, but until they find a way to draw blood thru the skin without using a needle, I won't be donating.

That's not selfish, that's a real phobia; the people who are selfish make altogetherdifferent claims. that, and you're not the type to say something like this and describe your symptoms meaninglessly. *hug*

You aren't being selfish, you don't have to do it, its your life.
I'm not scared of needles, had too many I think. The head and neck ones were doozys.
