Well, I recently got braces, and let me tell you, they are no fun, especially seeing how my gums and teeth are extremely sensitive. Plus, seeing as I only got them on my front four teeth, I can't wait until I get them on all of my teeth.

Well, here is just like a place to talk about brushing and care tecniques, and how to deal with the pain as they are adjusted to straighten my teeth even more. Also, if you are getting braces soon, you can get advice on how much they really hurt and how to deal with it as they put them on. Also, get the strengths and weaknesses of different kinds of braces, like invisiline, ceramics, and metal ones.

Also, if anyone is unsure about the location of this thread, I asked support about where I should put it.

Also, the ceramic braces are really cool because if you have light teeth, you can't see them that much. I have 'em, and a friend thought I had a retainer, because all she could see was the metal bar.

My mom got the light colored ones. Just avoid dark colored sodas (like coke and dr. pepper) and coffee, because it stains it.

Oh and, brush your teeth. A lot. If you don't brush your teeth you get white scars...which...are not fun. And floss and stuff.

And on the pain factor, it hurts after you get them on, and after you get them tightened. that should hurt only for a day or two.

Yeah, well, braces aren't really that bad... it just gets really annoying constantly getting food stuck in them though. XD

I know. I don't take a brush to school, so after lunch it is SO annoying to have bits of white bread and ham and lettuce stuck under them and below them.

No coke, I know. I absolutely love diet coke. Do you think if I brushed my teeth right afterwards it would be okay, along with flossing and mouthwash?

And I haven't had them adjusted yet, but my best friend Kendra has them and she says when she gets them adjusted she doesn't eat anything but pasta. Also, it is kind of funny because another one of my best friends, Carmen, is having hers off a week from tomorrow.

You can get special brace cleaning brushes now; those should be useful when cleaning bits of food from your brace.

I never had one; my teeth are only slightly crooked and it's not even noticeable.

My mom said I might have to get them for my top teeth, and there's only ONE tooth that's not even; it's the way it grew out, and in truth it's only noticable if I give someone a toothy smile.

If anyone in my family does, it's my brother. His lower teeth are a hurricaned picket fence!

Ouch! Yeah, my bottom teeth are straight, but they are just so squished together. There is absolutely no space for even floss. Now my top teeth, they are okay, but because I have ceramic ones and I have an overbite, and as well as they want to make some space, I have to have them for approx. 31 months, so I think that is just before 10th grade, like the summer before. I have decided I want to have them out on my birthday. A great birthday present.

* SIGH * take it from me, braces AREN'T fun. They hurt and you don't get to enjoy alot of the foods u used too..... there's food in your braces, your teeth are harder to clean etc. etc. but then there's getting your bands to match your style, etc. etc. I have metal on my face, and on my teeth.... * SIGH * two years to go...

Yeah. I still have this packet of gum in my locker, and every day I feel like opening it, but I promised I wouldn't have gum...and when the food gets stuck above the braces...the ones I have always feel like they have food stuck in them, even when I haven't eaten anything.

Do you think caffeine-free sodas would be okay, if I brushed my teeth really well afterwards?
