If you want an easy to follow tutorial on how to shade hair, here are a couple of good ones:
Watermelon Bubblegum. Also check out the full doll tutorials for some good advice on shading clothes. Ninique's Minidollz. Has some brilliantly simple tutorials, as well as one on hair. Believe me, I still find shading hair extremely difficult and struggle with it to this day. O_o
