Okay, for anyone who doesn't know the case background, here it is: Death of Caylee Anthony - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
So, for a few years now this case has been going on and its been a pretty big deal particularly in the last few weeks because the trial actually happened. I know everyone was **** sure they knew what the verdict was going to be, but the jury pretty much shocked everyone today by coming back with a not guilty verdict on the murder. Casey is only going to serve time, if at all because she is going to be credited from the 3 years she has already served, for the 4 charges of lieing to the authorities (1 year max for each, which is why she may not serve anymore time). Was the jury right? Should they have let Casey go? Was there enough evidence to even get the murder charge to begin with, let alone abuse or manslaughter? My thoughts, I think the jury was in a tight spot and did what was best. The defense definitely managed to create enough doubt for them to acquit, but I'm sure she did it. What bothers me more is I think the family knows things that could've convicted her. The mother very explicitly lied on the stand by claiming the chloroform searches (84 total) where done by her, which suggests they are covering for Casey. Its odd because they very clearly are disgusted with her at the same time. That whole family gives me the jeebies, I just don't like what is going on there. I must admit, I'm shocked by the verdict really. I was sure it would come out guilty simply because of how sensational this case has been. |
