Men and women are divided about whether Michael Vick should be allowed to return to the NFL. - ABC News

Do you think that Michael Vick should have been excepted into the Eagles team?

No. I think his crime was inexcusable. He not only supported a network of people that do atrocious things to animals, but he helped operate his own ring. These dogs are starved to death, wear pounds of chains around their necks, are beaten to "harden them up", forced to breed, and, to top it off, they have them fight to the death. These animals cannot be rehabilitated to regular life and most fighting dogs have to be put to sleep. When they can be helped, these dogs just about always have problems with other dogs and those used for breeding have serious psychological issues.

Quote:
Q. How Are Fighting Dogs Raised and Trained?
Fighting dogs must be kept isolated from other dogs, so they spend most of their lives on short, heavy chains, often just out of reach of other dogs. They are usually poorly socialized to any other dogs and to most people. However, many “professional” fighters invest much time and money in conditioning their animals. They are often given quality nutrition, basic veterinary care and exercised under controlled conditions where they will have limited contact with other dogs, such as on a treadmill or “jenny.”
The conditioning of fighting dogs may also make use of a variety of legal and illegal drugs, including anabolic steroids to enhance muscle mass and encourage aggressiveness. Narcotic drugs may also be used to increase the dogs’ aggression and mask pain during a fight. Young animals are often trained or tested by allowing them to fight with other dogs while muzzled or leashed in well-controlled “rolls.” those who show little inclination to fight may be discarded or killed at an early age. Some fighters will use stolen pets as "bait dogs," or sparring partners.
There are many other common techniques used in the training and testing of dogs, but these methods vary widely among different fighters and may range from systematic to haphazard. “Street” fighters usually make little investment in conditioning their animals, relying on “quick fixes” to produce aggression. These might include starvation, physical abuse, and use of stimulants or other drugs to excite the dogs.

I think dog fighting is despicable, so much so that I believe anyone who supports it should spend life in prison. He doesn't deserve to continue to make any money after this and the fact that the Eagles hired him tells me that they completely disregarded how it was his money that financed it before. I also don't believe he regrets his actions in the least. In fact, they regard these minor punishments as a part of the trade, so I'm betting he's already back at it.

In my opinion the most lethal of fighting animals are those who really love their master. Creating these savage abominations which live to tear out other creature's throats is against nature.

I say slam the bast'ard into prison and drop the key down a drain.

Right now my only consolation is that he's not with the Steelers. At least, I hope he's not. My other consolation is that a major retail store is refusing to sell his jersey.

Not sure what that store is, mind you.

Far, far beyond the island, we dwelt in shades of twilight, through dread and weary days, through grief and endless pain. It lies unknown, the land of mine! A hidden gate to save us from the shadow fall. The lord of water spoke in the silence words of wisdom. I've seen the end of all: Be aware, the storm gets closer.

On the topic of Vick, he recently stated in an interview that he wants a dog again. I think I died a little inside when he tried to blame his actions on "culture".

Dog Killer Michael Vick: I Want Another Dog | Radar Online

Hate to tell you, Vick, dog killing isn't a "black thing", which is what I'm guessing you meant by your culture comment. Its not a race or culture thing at all. Its a hobby of inhuman jerks.

And seriously, how can he claim that he didn't know it was wrong?! Everything in our society touts the loyalty, the virtue of dogs. Nothing about it says "hey, look at this dogs! Lets go put them in fighting rings!". He made me hate him more and I didn't think that was possible.
