Some annoying fan girls might insert themselves into Bella's character but a lot of others don't. And I don't think shes a Mary-Sue. The reason her character appealed to me was because she was just a normal teenage girl. Not reckless and all together very unassuming. And people also think all the books characters are too perfect but I disagree. Bella has her faults, some which she registers and some which she doesn't but I think because its in the first person you have to notice her faults yourself.
About the not exchanging 20 words bit ... there is one day where Edward ask Bella everything about her. Literally everything so I don't really get what your friend meant. Edward 'stalking' her ... the only bit I can remember that could be anything like that is when Bella is in Seattle with her human friends at the beginning of their relationship and she gets cornered by two weird guys and Edward just 'happens' to drive by and pick her up. We don't know Edward well then but I think its fair to assume Alice his sister 'foresaw' it and thats why he followed her. ![]() |

Having now read Twilight, I can assume that the "stalker" part refers to Edward watching Bella at night, before they had any kind of relationship. I don't have the book at hand, but I'm pretty sure something like that happened.
Overall, the book wasn't as eye-gougingly awful as I had been led to believe, but I certainly don't feel like reading the following books in the series. To be honest, it was just kinda dull. And I hated Edward's character. If there's anything that irks me more than vampires, it's got to be "perfect" vampires. But I never expected to like it, so I guess I can't say I'm disappointed. It actually exceeded my expectations, though only slightly. |

T.T
I just tried to post a very long anti-twilight post, and it didn't let me because it had signed me off. Dammit. The gist was that it's a very poorly written book and I hate it. Overrated. I went into detail on how the "vampires" completely ruin the image a vampire has held for many years and that I don't even consider those vampires, but Meyerpires. And the characters are too perfect. Also that "fiction" is not supposed to be unrealistic. Anyway, I'll keep this one short, or else I'll be VERY upset if it doesn't post. ![]() Twilight: Turning teenagers everywhere into zombies. I think it was one of those things that just got so popular so fast, that many people were predisposed to not like it, and/or try to find and point out all the things wrong with it.
I liked that they were "vegetarians", I thought it was a unique idea. I think plenty of other movie have ruined vampires as we know them, like Vampire 2000 where he kills people on planes, and Dracula 2.0 where he's a robot vampire, somehow I can imagine Bram Stroker rolling over in his grave when he saw that, before eve worrying about anything Meyers wrote. And I think Meyers made her vampire so perfect to show a contrast in Bella, she was a very clumsy teenager, low self-esteem, "nerdy" person and here are these beautiful, incredibly smart, multi-talented ect... When She decided to she wanted to be a vampire ,besides wanting to be with Edward forever, she wanted to be perfect like them...like a goal almost. I don't consider it "stalking", he can here what people are thinking and he was "protecting" her, because, as everyone says about Bella, she is a danger magnet, so he kept close. They developed a relationship very quickly anyways and he didn't really hang around because eh didn't think he could control himself because of her smell. Most of the time he was outside her window its because she asked him to be there. The first few times it was to keep her out of the danger going on, and then when she found out she made him stay, and then she made him stay in the room and it went so on and so on. -------------

Vampires CAN NOT be vegetarians. Blood is a meat product, so unique idea or not, it's completely against vampire canon. If Meyer had created these new creatures that were a bit like vampires, but called something else, then no harm done. And Bella IS a Mary Sue; she's basically a self insert, what Stephanie would like to be. If you can't see that, then you're blind.
As for Edward, well if you consider a guy who not only stops you from seeing your friends, frightens you, has terrifying mood swings as well as threatens to commit suicide in order to control you the perfect guy, then you need to get therapy. He's insanely jealous, which is NOT a good quality in a boyf, and does not indicate love, no matter what Stephanie might think. ![]() |

Agreed. The 'vampires' are not vampires, but Meyerpires. I decided to get a definition from... Hayleypedia! xD
From Hayleypedia (XD): "A Meyerpire is a fictional creature in the sucktacular book series Twilight by Stephanie "Never learnt how to write" Meyer. These creatures are said to be vampires, but they are not. Instead, these Meyerpires are vegetarian, they sparkle, they have special powers, and they live among humans like regular people. Actually, Meyerpires are more like overly perfect and magical human beings then vampires. Also note that Twilight isn't 'the sh*t', but just sh*t altogether." Used in a sentence: "Edward Cullen and his Meyerpire family are way too perfect and must be destroyed." See Also: Sh*t Twilight Mary Sue Marty Stu Self-insert Abusive Relationships Worst Books of All Time ![]() Yep. Straight out of Hayleypedia there. D@mn, I love that site. It's always right, and very easy for me to access. Heck, I don't even need a computer! xD Also, Bella is a Sue. So is everyone in the Cullen Family. Deal with it. It's true. I'm probably just making the little fangirls want to attack me, but I'll live. No, I'm not an immortal Meyerpire. I like being un-sparkly. xD ![]() Twilight: Turning teenagers everywhere into zombies. Besides, I like my apples green. ::: Av base and Sig Base by Wish04 ::: Visit my dA: Orange-Bubbles |
