..I'm so sick of hearing about High School Musical. *twitch*.. Can it really be considred a musical? It's more of a movie- musical if you ask me. Even though they're doiong productions of it in Chicago right now ( and personally think it's a waste of life) I don't really consider it to be a musical b/c it was written by people from the Disney Channel and not people who write musicals for a living. (You know they type. Stephen Sondheim, Boubil and Schonberg, ect)

Wow, four of my seven all-time favorite musicals aren't here (the other three being Rent, Wicked, and Chicago): Les Mis, Cabaret, D*mn Yankees, and The Three Penny Opera (or Mack the Knife, if you insist on calling it that instead).

And those are only my all-time favorites. Also missing from my favorites are Aida, The Fantastiks, Into the Woods, Ragtime, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, Urine Town, Pajama Game, La Boheme, Of Thee I Sing, Anything Goes, and Assasins.

And I have to say, it really surprises me that Hairspray is the top musical. It's very fun, I have the CD (like I do all the musicals I mentioned), but it's really not fabulous. That, and High School Musical is NOT a real musical. In fact, I think it's blasphemey to even list it with these other great works. Oh well. To each his own, I guess.

Nonetheless, I'm absolutely thrilled that so many people like musicals!!! This is cause for celebration!
