So basically make the text darker than the background? That's a good idea. A board I'm on has a bit of a mottled background, see below:
![]() (Yes, that is me.) Short posts like this one are easy to read despite the bright white text. However, large posts like this next one are extremely difficult to read because of the default bright white text: ![]() And while it is remedied with pale gray text, sometimes it is still too much. Plus, almost none of the colors used on such versions of sites don't show up well and you end up having to highlight nearly every word to read them. So my suggestion: Neutral, but light background with darker text. White text is painful and black is easier to read, but so is the neutral gray we have in our posts on TDP forums but if the colors are changed to neutral, then we won't be able to read it unless we either make it darker or lighter. I'm in favor of darker text. I'm going blind looking at my screenshots. o_o; Far, far beyond the island, we dwelt in shades of twilight, through dread and weary days, through grief and endless pain. It lies unknown, the land of mine! A hidden gate to save us from the shadow fall. The lord of water spoke in the silence words of wisdom. I've seen the end of all: Be aware, the storm gets closer. The problem with grey is that it's boring. That's why I suggested blue and silver, with the same blue text we have now maybe. The blue could be different shades, or maybe a pastel shade and add colour to the forums. One site I go on has black and grey background for posts, and light grey text. A lot of people therefore flavour their text by colouring it. We don't want to encourage people to post in large, hot pink text with boring forums. O_o

A dark-ish background (where the pink is currently) and a lighter center (the blue) will draw they eye to where it's supposed to go, and we can still keep thee relatively dark text.
I'm not sure about the blue; the color may be a bit too cool if we use too much of it, which may give a somewhat cold feeling to a place where one is supposed to generally relax and have fun talking with other people about various things. ![]() |

I don't know if anyone's brought this up yet, but I think we should have a vote on a few colors. Like one of the choices would be (I'm just giving examples) blue and purple, and another maybe light green and light pink or something, and so on. And then we can all vote on the colors we'd like best for the forums. I don't know, it's just an idea.
