Default Oh wowie. o.o - 09-16-2008, 05:23 PM

Okay, so, I'm the nerdy girl who has more guy friends than girl friends. There's one guy friend I've had for years, not naming him but some of you might already know who it is considering I've actually referenced him recently in a few threads. I've had a crush on him since Freshmen year, and I never told him. Ever.

He's an awesome guy, really sweet and completely hilarious, plus he manages to get me out of a bad mood and feeling a bit better, plus he's one of the few friends I have that I can have an honest mature conversation with. He's pretty abideful to his religion; no drugs, no alcohol, no nothing bad etc. which I think is pretty awesome that a guy in this day and age actually can have these life values. There's a few things we don't agree on, like tattoos and piercings - he says you shouldn't tarnish yourself (he was quoting it word by word out of the bible and the other book he had at the time, this was last year. I just summarised it.), but if you want to get a tattoo, go ahead, he won't razz ya. He even tried to convince me I'd look good with green streaked hair. XD That was funny.

Now why would I tell you guys this? >_>

Anyway, the Homecoming Dance is in two weeks and I usually don't go. But at lunch today, when I was talking to him and some other friends, he randomly asked out of the blue, "When's homecoming?" I didn't think anything of it, I said it was after Spirit Week and all, and Ashley told him it was the 27th. We talked about something, can't remember what, then there was a bit of an awkward silence after the freshman near us stole my and everybody's glasses to see what it would be like wearing five+ pairs of glasses. After I got them back, I was mumbling that I was blind as a bat, then my friend gets real quiet and kinda mumbles, "Wanna go to homecoming with me?"

"Sure!"

Then almost two hours later, in MATH class when I'm done with homework assignments, it hits me that he asked me! To HOMECOMING!

No guy has ever asked me before. A girl did once because from behind and in a jacket I looked like a guy she liked; that was when I had really short hair. That was awkward. XD But I'm serious, I've never gone to homecoming before.

Mom is really excited and happy; bro's actually happy, I'm assuming dad's happy, I just wanna crawl in my bed and go to sleep because of my cold medicine but I'm happy too. ^^ Mom wants to buy me a dress, I'd rather wear a fancy dress shirt with pants. X_x Oh well, I'll just let her do it as long as the dress isn't frilly and pink.

... I'm just really nervous, I've never gone to homecoming before. I know I should take my own advice and just be myself, but EEEK!! My parents want to meet him because despite the fact I've been friends with him for 4+ years now, he's never been able to come over to visit because of family things like babysitting his siblings and keeping the house clean because both his parents work.

I'm just so nervous, it's one or two weeks away and agh. x_x

AWWW!

Sorry, I'm such a sucker for situations like this! (I'll bet I'm an even bigger nerd than you are. XD)

Try to compromise with the mom thing about the dress, and as far as make-up goes, less is more. Dress up in a way that's says dressed up, but still totally you, in a way. Don't be unprepared, looks wise, or I have a feeling your mom will take over.

Don't let her. Take some look at a few current styles with hair and make-up, and put together a look in your head, and don't budge on it.

And, of course, you can post your ideas and trust your buddies from on here to help! What do you tihnk we're here for?

Aw, thanks, Queenie! *huggle* I swear if my mom tries to make me do a double ponytail or force me to wear braids I may cry. o_o

There is a little bit of a hairdo issue since my hair's layered weird and really uneven in places for reasons unknown, so I'm gonna ask my mom if she can get an appointment for me with this lady she really likes at the hair salon; that's about the only woman there you can actually trust if your hair is super curly or super odd.

Cool. ^^ Well, talk to the lady at the hair salon and have her help you choose a style that will work well with your odd hair and that you like that also fits the dress and make-up.

XD I never wear make-up, but I know the ropes pretty well, and have a tendency to watch Look A-Like, and the guy on there gives tips about make-up. XD I'm your girl! Seriously.

If you want to wear a little makeup, it being a special occasion and all, maybe just a bit of mascara and lip gloss? Even glitter, if you're feeling brave. XD

heh, something similar happened to for year 10 prom this year.
I was planning on going by myself, hanging out with friends.
And then i was wandering along with a guy who I like, and we've been out a few times, but he hadn't really shown a lot of interest in me besides letting me use him as a teddy bear...
and he asked what time I'd like him to pick me up O.O
I went 'uhm... 6:30?'
and then halfway through my legal studies class I had to bite my tongue so as not to scream :P

I agree with others, do NOT let your Mum do much.
I let mine do stuff, and i ended up with a dress that... well, while it did look pretty good, it was a good inch too long for me, I had to be very careful not to trip over. Plus she got me a makeover at some place, and then decided she didnt want to go with me at the last minute. I looked like a porcelain doll, which is *very* weird for me, and the eyeshadow was horrible XP
Other than being horribly self conscious for about the first two and a half hours, though, I had loads of fun! You will too.

If your Mum wants to buy you stuff... well, thats good. You don't have to pay! But make sure you go with her, and don't be afraid to stick up for yourself when it comes to what you want to wear.

Good luck!

If you trust your mom enough, she could pick out a dress for you. I've learned to trust mine since she knows my likes and dislikes and I rarely get the chance to go shopping to pick stuff out myself. But your mom might be differant. Going with her isn't a bad suggestion though. And sparkly eye glitter is a neet idea. I got a little make-up kit for the sole purpose of using the glitter thing it had. Sorry, I know I'm not much help, and I like sparkly stuff.

This is kind of off topic, but what exactly is homecoming about?

I must be a good actor. You actually seem to think I'm interested.

I've never actually been sure what it's about, usually, it's the same week as our game with another county.

The dance IS themed; PATRIOTIC!? Gah, why can't we just have a free for all color scheme. X_x So much for coppery colors.
