Global Warming Thread..?

Uh ok....I don't mean to offend anyone by this and I'm sorry if I have got the wrong idea...but I noticed that the "Do you reckon Global Warming is real" thread had been closed and the reasons to me..anyway seemed a bit unfair...Miranda_ had closed the last post with "This thread is locked, cuz you are unable to discuss the subject in a mature and adult fashion" but I noticed IsweetieI posted "so lets just aggree to disaggree" which to me seemed pretty mature..and Miranda_ also says "Also, your sig pic is way too big." when it seemed the same size as Mathiea26's was (I only use her as an example because she was posting on the same thread,I don't mean to critisize her.)
I just kinda thought this was a unfair and sorry if I haven't heard all of the argument ect and I don't mean to insult anyone personally I just wondered what other people thought.

Because some people were arguing nastily to everyone, IE people yelling at others for saying Global Warming doesn't exist and that we're all going to die if we don't do something.

Also, this seems to be as if you're attacking Miranda; there IS a limit on sig sizes, believe it or not, and IsweetieI's sig is WAY too big. Also, she never has evidence to back her up, and it's true: She constantly double posts, and she acts nasty to whomever disagrees with her.

Yuh I know theres a limit on sig sizes the point I was makin was that Mathiea26 had one a similar size to IsweetieI but she didn't get a warning about hers as far as I can see.Ok..so not really my buisness I know...

I tried to make it clear in my post that I wasn't personally attacking Miranda_,I don't have a problem with her,I was disagreeing with the choices she had made and was just expressing my opinion like people do a lot on this forum.
I really don't wanna offend anyone with this post and it really is not a personal attack on anyone and I'm sorry if it looks that way.

I understand that, but if you read all of IsweetieI's posts, it's kind of obvious she wasn't backing herself up with anything and really WAS arguing with people instead of keeping it a polite debate on it. It's happened in the past; perfectly civil threads have been closed when people did that, and it takes just one person to do so. (Hell, there was a thread in dating that got closed because someone was harassing the OP for disagreeing with online dating and saying she was against it completely. O_o)

I know, but IsweetieI was missing the point entirely and refusing to listen to the other side of the argument; as well as lacking solid proof to back up her belief in global warming, she was also being somewhat rude in the fact that she was breaking rules repeatedly by doubleposting every time she posted in that specific thread.

I'm sorry to disagree with you, but I'm standing by Miranda in this one. I don't think IsweetieI was being very mature. Not only did she get nasty(in case you didn't notice, her posts had to be editted by Miranda), but was breaking forum rules. She double posted(which is also spam), used chatspeak frequently after being asked to stop, and then continued to break forum rules.

kk, it's an honest mistake that any1 can make you've got to realise that some people don't remeber everything and that seom people arent as smart as you and look if you say that dippiing you're head in a bucket of pee makes you prettier and healthier IT DOESENT MEAN ITS TRUE! okay !!

I found that quote particularly nasty myself. She couldn't be mature and Miranda made the right choice to lock the thread. She didn't do it to spite those who believe in global warming, but because IsweetieI was breaking rules over and over again and wouldn't stop after being warned.

Mathiea is being contacted about her signature so that will be changed, along with IsweetieI.

Yeh I agree breaking the rules is rude (Sorry bout the double posting!)
But (and I didn't want to post this as I can see how it would look like an personal attack at Miranda) to me this seems kinda rude "Yes, you can express your opinion, but if you post hysterical outbursts based on emotion and inaccurate information, you will look like a fool. I suggest you do some more reading."

It wasn't rude, but the truth. IsweetieI was doing exactly that. It wasn't meant to be rude or a personal attack, but instead to show that you need facts to argue your point here in the debate-style threads. When emotions start running high, like in this case, they will lead to an explosion. She may have apologized, but that doesn't mean a thing. Its difficult to explain since it often takes years to understand this, but once you let someone act like that, it will seem like its okay, which its not. Also, it frequently leads to harassment and flaming threads, which we've all worked hard to stop since the moderating jobs were revived.
