Needlephobia

Ok well, the title pretty much says it. I have SEVER needle phobia. Its like impossible for me to get shots and stuff like that. I usually faint then I am freaked out and allert the rest of the day to the point where if some one touches me I turn around and hit them. I no it sounds really weird. When I get shots and stuff I tell my self there doing me good but i cant help it! In science I fainted when there was a pic of a needle in my science book. I really need to get help with this. Any thoughts?

I kind of know how you feel, but my phobia wasn't nearly as bad; I just absolutely freaked out when I had to go to the hospital though, because they had to take bloodwork. However, the nurse who did it actually knew what she was doing, and I barely felt anything.

If you ever have to get something done, like shots or something, ask if you can have something to grab onto really really hard; it helps a little. Well, it did for me.

I know this sounds childish, but whenever I have to get a shot I bring one of my stuffed animals. not a big one of course, just A tiny one that you can grip tightly when getting the shot. Or, if you don't like stuffed animals, maybe bring a picture of a fun time or your favorite person to look at while you're getting the shot. Maybe you will not even feel the pain!

As for fainting at the sight of a needle.... Instead, think about the pic you were looking at or the animal you were holding. It might help a little.

And as for hitting people just tell them to leave you alone for a while untill you can calm down.

if its at a point when youre reacting to a picture then stuffed toys arent going to be of any help to you.

Some councillors/psychologists specialise in phobias, alot of people, with their help, can get over their phobias.

i hate shots.
the docotors who gave me a shot last time, they said to think of my favorite stuff. it worked. :]]
but the hit my bone with the needle, so for the rest of the day, my arm was hurting.

yeah. when i was 7 i went to the doctors for a flu shot i think and i cried the moment i got there but they gave me a giant stuffed whale and they did like 5 shots while i was staring at it. 0.o
the point is you need something to distract yourself.

I thought that too so shes not the only one.

My mom has needle phobia too. whenever she has to get blood work she squeezes my dads arm so hard he has nail indents in his arm.
