"That's because we know each other well, darling," purred a smooth tenor voice. Before her stood a man of surprisingly little stature, standing at five foot six. His face was heart-shaped with chubby, cherub cheeks and large but heavy-lidded eyes. He looked like a precious teen, but for the unnatural sheen of his pale skin, or the way his dark eyes seemed to reflect no light. His black hair fell in soft waves and his smile twisted crookedly up the side of his face.
"I smell a snake, Lillith," he chuckled.
This was Lucifer, the banished King of Hel.l, the former baby of Heaven, the self-proclaimed bane of God. He was both less and more than whatever people expected, and his presence nearly filled the room with the bitter, metallic taste of hate and malice.
