"I... I don't know. I don't really have anything I'm looking forward to. Hanging out with Dave and Lissa or playing football again, if I had to choose."
"I hope so too, Torie. Here, I don't know if you read this one." Kevin looked at Ryan's file and handed her SESSION 3.
For the third time in a row, Ryan elects not to take the blue pill, even though he knows that he will be injected with the medication regardless. This time I will be asking him about his friends.
MARTIN: Ryan, you know that it would be easier to take the pill orally, like most of our patients do.
ZUCKER: Easier for me, but also easier for you people. I'm not a suicide risk, I shouldn't even be here.
MARTIN: After what you told me yesterday, I believe this place was a necessary precaution. With that amount of trauma, you may have became suicidal or depressed over time. Mental illness runs in the family and, as I have done some research myself, your mother was very ill before what happened to her.
ZUCKER: I don't ever remember her being sad. She seemed like such a happy person.
MARTIN: It is not uncommon for people to hold their feeling inside, Ryan, you should know this. It is sometimes easier to put on a fake smile then to talk about your inner emotions. Now, Ryan, I am going to start with my questions. Tell me about your friends. Anyone you're close to?
ZUCKER: Of course I have friends. I'm part of a Resistance group, and we're all practically family.
MARTIN: Yes, I've read about the Resistance. What caused you to join?
ZUCKER: My girlfriend, Torie, she started it along with my other friends Mike and Ella. The founding group also had some other classmates of ours, Cole, Greg, Janelle, and Heather.
MARTIN: Shall we start with your girlfriend, Torie? What's her full name?
ZUCKER: Victoria Freemon. She... She's amazing. I love her, and I miss her so much. She was devastated when I was taken away.
MARTIN: I can imagine. What does she look like?
ZUCKER: Beautiful. She's got long fiery auburn hair, and a smokin' hot bod, and the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen. She's like a goddess.
I noted Ryan's face brightened up dramatically when talking about Victoria.
MARTIN: When did you begin dating her?
ZUCKER: At the beginning of the school year. I was somewhat pushed into dating her, by Mike and Ella, but now I'm thankful that I did give her a chance. Of course we've had other people try and ruin our relationship, but we remained strong. We're in love.
MARTIN: Love is a strong word, if you've only been dating for a couple months.
ZUCKER: I can feel it. It doesn't matter how long we've been dating, I know what I feel for her is love. I... I was already considering proposing to her.
MARTIN: Perhaps after you're released-
ZUCKER: I CAN'T after I'm released, you and your people will make me forget her! I WILL NOT FORGET HER THOUGH. I WON'T. I PROMISED HER!
Mr. Zucker has quickly become agitated. He has picked up his chair, and threw it across the room in anger. I passed him his pill and told him we were done for today. He was escorted out by security. It is not uncommon for one half of a young couple to be brought in here and to act up when asked questions about their girlfriend or boyfriend, but something is different about this relationship and I cannot put my finger on what it is. I will continue to dig deeper into this matter.
