Lincoln Park High School, Chicago, Illinois, 2020. The Program is about a 20 minute walk from Lincoln Park, but the teenagers after leaving The Program go to school in a small private, unnamed high school right beside The Program instead of Lincoln Park. There is a heavily supervised shared Community Center in between the two (about a 10 minute walk from each) where teens from Lincoln Park and teens who have gone through The Program can hang out with each other. There is a small, and unsupervised lake half an hour from Lincoln Park that many teens like to visit as well.
Personality (and/or) Bio:
Name: Ella Bennett
Appearance: Short and curvy African-American girl with dark round eyes and a bright smile. Ella wears her curly hair slightly above the shoulders, and she bleaches it blond. Her style is casual, and she's rarely seen in anything other than jeans, a plain tee (or hoodie when cold), and her favourite red converse.
Personality (and/or) Bio: Ella is a charming young woman, who tries to remain positive after her 14-year old little sister, Olivia, committed suicide a few months ago. Ella believes her sister is in a better place now - an angel who has returned to God. Her parents have taken it hard though, and have been keeping a very close eye on Ella since the suicide. They are happy that The Program has been implemented, but Ella never wants to forget her memories with her sister. Ella is very charming and makes friends easily. On the other hand, she is very impulsive, manipulative, and thinks 100% with her heart. Her emotional actions are a huge cause of her parents worry.
Ella finished watching the morning news broadcast, and walked to her room. She went over to her bedside table and picked up a picture frame. Inside the frame was a picture of her and Olivia smiling, taken a year ago on vacation in Florida. After that vacation, Olivia changed. Everything changed.
She gave the photo a kiss and said a quick prayer. She picked up her backpack, and left for school. On her way she thought about the story on the news. She had heard whispers about The Program before. She heard it was supposed to help teenagers forget their "traumatic" pasts. She thought that was the most ridiculous thing she had ever heard. Sure, her sister's death was sad, but the memory of Olivia was a happy one. She would hate to forget her. Not only that, but she would forget her friends. Her friends... the very people who helped her through Olivia's suicide. She couldn't even imagine forgetting them either.
The Program was already causing her stress, and it only just came to America. She tried not to think about it the rest of the way to school, but it kept trying to worm it's way into her thoughts. Will things at school change? Who in her class will be taken first? Will SHE be taken just because of her sister's death? Some reports say suicide rates are higher in people with suicide in their family. Ella started to worry more and more.
((I have another character, but I'll introduce him a little later.))
