"That's the spirit." Gabrielle said encouragingly. "One of those comes near you again, you bite it apart if you have to. Better than being... That."
She sighed and slumped forward in the seat.
"Though if they can possess vampires, it mioght not be such a good idea." she said, then paused and sat upright. "Wait. It called me a vampire.... It called me a vampire!" She looked over at Ty, grinning. "You know what that means?"
She started to stain and twist against the wooden shackles.
"These kind of shackles are made specific to each race. And if they're only half right, they only half work."
She twisted her arm in the shackle until it almost snapped itself, but just before that there was the groan and splintering of wood. Then, with her free hand she tore open the second shackle far more easily, then the ones at her feet.
Gabrielle stood up and stretched out to her full 6 foot height, suddenly a lot more confident, and a lot more reassuring. She started breaking the ropes holding Ty, feeling like a big **** hero.
