So basically make the text darker than the background? That's a good idea. A board I'm on has a bit of a mottled background, see below:

Short posts like this one are easy to read despite the bright white text. However, large posts like this next one are extremely difficult to read because of the default bright white text:



And while it is remedied with pale gray text, sometimes it is still too much. Plus, almost none of the colors used on such versions of sites don't show up well and you end up having to highlight nearly every word to read them. So my suggestion: Neutral, but light background with darker text. White text is painful and black is easier to read, but so is the neutral gray we have in our posts on TDP forums but if the colors are changed to neutral, then we won't be able to read it unless we either make it darker or lighter. I'm in favor of darker text. I'm going blind looking at my screenshots. o_o;
