It’s about a decade or so after Wesker was destroyed by the Resistance, led by Destiny, Miya and Lee. Despite the time and effort gone into renewing the city things are still bad.
The educational system is next to non-existent, medicine is primitive, mostly relying on rare individual’s healing powers to cure the sick, and justice is still enforced with a bloodied pipe to the head.
Much of the city is still destroyed by fire or monster attacks over the years and Infectia still takes up a third of the city, zombies shambling the diseases streets, not more rotted than ever.
Unknown to the old leaders of the Resistance or to nearly anyone alive something strange is happening in Infectia. The zombies, previously staggering corpses with little to no intellect, are growing faster, more resistant to bullets and in some cases, their rotted flesh is healing. To make it even worse, they’re getting smarter, while still retaining their bloodlust. For now they are still stupid, but it’s only a matter of time.
A researcher and budding entrepreneur, Janus Mortan, is one of the few to have the privilege of noticing this. However, instead of telling the public so they could arm themselves and prevent for a another outbreak, Janus has decided to use this to win himself a name and has pledged to rid Infectia of zombies for good.
After much trial and error he turned from seeing the mutation as a disease and instead looked to the old Lore of Carcer. There he found legends of a ‘Void’ under the city, a place of pure evil that contact with it ‘did change my brethren from living souls to the living dead that do prey on us still alive. Yet there are those who come is the guise of man, and speak as one enough to fool all, but they too are the same as the corpses that walk’.
This intrigued him. Zombies had existed before Umbrella, indeed, even before the chemicals could be made? And this case of zombism had been stopped.
He dug deeper, and found the Rite of Sacrifice, a ritual once conducted in order to close the Void. With the knowledge of the Rite, Janus is sure he can devise a Rite that closes the Void permanently. All he needs are the right people…
But that will take time, and there are matters closer to home. EcoBioTech is now the dominant laboratory in Carcer since the fall of Umbrella, but several people have reported strange things happening around the buildings at night and kidnappings have increased 27 per cent this quarter. It’s with this that the Resistance is busying itself.
But the Resistance is older now. They are mostly married, with children of their own, and most of those in their teens. Perhaps it’s time to hand down the reins?

Silent_Wolf, Miranda_ and Sarah_K_O_M only. This is a remake after all.
A teenage girl was on her way to the cinema, to meet up with her friends. She was quite short and had hair that was black streaked with electric blue, held back with brightly coloured clips and slides. Her name was Mai Emerald, the adopted daughter of Destiny and David Emerald/son.
Like all Carcer girls her age, Mai carried a small caliber handgun with her, hers resting by her hip and hidden under her coat.
She reached the cinema and leaned against the wall to wait for the others, flexing her shoulders uncomfortable. Carcer was a desert city and the nights were often humid, even in winter.
Opposite the cinema was a construction site, the men working on it even at that late hour. It was only recently there had been much headway in restoring the place but it had given her mother high hope. Destiny was already planning out schools and hospitals, the hospitals supplied fully with medicine and machines from her own business, Emerald Inc.
Like her mother Mai hoped to be a doctor, or failing that, a writer.
Right now she’d just settle for her friends arriving though.
