I知 by no means a problem child at school, but even though I follow the vast majority of rules without making a fuss, there are certain school rules I値l never understand. Or even if I understand them, I think they are rather silly.

No iPods at School

Okay, I understand the phone issue. Having a phone in class is distracting and can interrupt things. But if we were able to listen to our music every time we were doing all of the quiet work that you seem to do in class, there would be less cheating, higher productivity and a bit more enthusiasm. Think about it. You do your homework at home with music playing. Why do your work at school without it? I壇 be willing to bet there are even studies out there that would support my position here. Kids bring their own iPods and listen to their own music while they work after the teacher is done talking, of course. What痴 the problem?

No Dyed Hair

This one is just silly. Obviously fashion dictates that we sometimes have outlandishly colored or styled hair. Alright, it doesn稚 dictate it, but having black hair or platinum blonde hair is just as distracting as having dark blue stands in your hair or even pink tips. The same thing goes for hairstyles. What is so terrible about dreads or a faux hawk anyway? Are they really that distracting to the learning environment? I think most kids would tell you that they don稚 really care what other people do with their hair. The only problem I could see is if a giant 素ro was in front of my face when I was trying to read the board, but a different desk ought to solve that easily enough. I might have noticed a wild hairstyle, but I致e certainly never been distracted by one. Teachers ought to give us more credit.

No Meds at School

In most schools it seems that all meds have to be taken to the nurse to be distributed. To me that痴 just silly. If I知 having a yucky day and want to have Midol on hand, why do I have to give it to a nurse I致e never met in my life? Half of the teens in a high school at least are seventeen or eighteen. They are adults in most senses of the world. They can be drafted to the military, but can稚 carry their own Tylenol. Granted there are many who do it anyhow and might not even realize they are breaking a school rule. You might check with your school handbook on the medicine policy. I know of at least one girl who fell victim to a zero-tolerance policy. It turns out drug dogs can detect Tylenol and she learned the lesson the hard way. Thirty days in a disciplinary school seems a bit extreme for a case of cramps and a small bottle of Tylenol.

I agree with all of them, except the ipod one, because people could have innapropriate music on there, or they could get stolen, and teachers have to deal with the kids when they come up to them whining that someone stole it. xD BUT IT WOULD BE AWESOME if we could bring ipods to school

At my school we cant bare shoulders, wear skulls, have any visible piercings except ears, skirts and shorts must be to the knee, no random colored hair, no phones, no ipods/mp3s, no pain medicine. Yeah, my school is G-A-Y.

But Im gettin my hair blonde and underside blue (blue will be temp except perm blue tips) this summer and if they say anything imma go to the board and protest it. cause ive died my hair from blonde to black and it was more distractin when two girls had black with dark red highlights so yeah.

I always listen to my ipod. That's what got me through the last year, and most of my teachers don't mind as long as you are listening. I mean most teachers play favorites, and not that i am, but they seem to careless if i walk into the classroom with my ipod on than most kids :l I think that's more of a teacher thing Or just wear your hair long and thick over your ears, and put the ipod down the back of your shirt and listen away! I've never got caught since i started a year ago :3 *knock on wood*

As for the hair that's strange? It must be your school because i have black hair with purple splatter on the top and my septum is pierced :l And teachers like praise you on it! (well the cool ones)

Oh and the medicine. I had Ibuprofen i my bag today because of my period and took it and my teacher didn't care at ALL! not that she was like "do drugs" but she knew why so it was okay. I understand the rule, because lots of kids get high off cold medicine and other over the counter dru

At my middle, what happened was that if we were disobeying the dress code with the wrong shirt or too-short shorts, we were sent to the principal's office and we had to wear these ugly shorts or shirts with the principals name on it. And if guys were found with pants too far down, they were sent to the principal's office and had to have a rope tied around their pants.lol.

We're allowed to have i-pods in gym when were running out on the track or in the fitness room on block days. And our principals and teachers are very lenient on dress code. As long as we have a sweater or sweat jacket on if were wearing tank tops, and our shorts can't be no more then 4 inches from the knee which isn't that bad, and were allowed to do what ever we want with our hair. This one freshmen has purple hair.

And some of us carry medicine around with us. I know my friend has Tylenol in one of those Altoids mint containers. But over the summer during band camp our teacher was like you're sixteen years old I think you know when you need to take Tylenol and if you don't you should be at home with your mommy. It was really funny, but teachers and principals are super strict these days.

I'm not sure how wrist piercings are done.

She just has little metal rods that kind of look like they were violently jammed in there.

It's rather disturbing to look at, but it's certainly more original than those tacky tongue piercing many other girls in our school have.

My school allows i-pods and doesn't care what we do with our hair, and they're very lenient about clothing, so long as it isn't "disruptive".

They don't allow us to carry medication, though. Which is really annoying.

I agree with you about all of them, except I think phones should be allowed in school. What IS the harm? I think the rule for no pets allowed in school is just terrible. If I went to a school without that rule, I'd get a spaniel, stick it in my bag and carry it round school. *blabs on and on* well you get the point guys.

Well, I'm outta school and free!

Her WRISTS are pierced? How the heck do you do that?!

Lol about the Roman Catholic joke. I used to be one before I converted to the less annoying plain old Christian.

They are VERY strict and church was alway so stressfull:

Pray on knees, stand, hold hands with stranger, greet, say various phrases along with everyone else (and they don't tell you what to say, you're supposed to just KNOW).

No skulls huh? Never heard of that rule before. Plus it shouldn't even be legal if you go to a public school. They can't force their religion on you...or at least I thought they weren't allowed to!

Your rules are seriously that strict?

We don't have any rules here against what you wear or do with your body, or medication.

As a matter of fact, there's a girl in my biology class who has a mohawk and got her wrists pierced. No one ever gives her any trouble about it.

Yeah, they make cold meds.

What I hate is doublestandards (by the principals, no less!) between the skinny girls and the fat girls. I see skinny girls wearing ANYTHING that can break the rules; sandals, flip flops, short-short-shorts, tanktops, fishnets, skulls on clothing. They NEVER get yelled at. But oh, if a fat girl wears that stuff, they immediately get screamed at and have to change their clothes.

That's something I don't get; it's relatively new, but we're forbidden to have skulls of any type on our clothing. I blame our new principal, she's Roman Catholic and they're very... strange.
