It’s the holiday
season, and you’re ready to shop! So what do you get your friend that has everything? There is always the standard CD or gift card, but why not do something a bit different this year – find the absolute best gifts of the season.
Make it Personal
If you’re going to give gifts, why not make it a personal one? When you have a special friend, there is no better way to show how much you value that friendship than by investing time and energy in creating something unique. If you enjoy singing and writing songs, create a special song for your friend.. If you’re really brave, you might even sing it to her or record it.
If you can’t sing, but do like music, burn her a special CD or create a special play list of songs that have meaning just to the two of you. Then listen to it together and do a session of “remember when…?” Still another idea is to write her a poem about her or about your friendship. You can even write or type it formally and frame it for her along with a collage of meaningful pictures or draw something decorative by hand. If you’re artistic, create a work of art for your friend, and frame it for her. If you’re a writer, write her a letter telling her exactly how much you value her and her friendship. The options are endless.
There is nothing more delicious than a special holiday
treat. Pedro was really on to something when he made a cake for someone special. If you want to celebrate your friendship this season, throw your best friend a party at lunch. Make her a cake and decorate it in an especially cheesy holiday manner. Then bring it to school (along with plates, forks and napkins) and let her host her very own holiday party. She gets to keep the leftovers, of course, but maybe she’ll share them with you if you’re lucky. This idea works well with cookies, fudge or brownies, but they aren’t as much fun to decorate.
Give Something Back
If you have a friend that truly has everything, why not make a donation to someone that doesn’t in her name? There are many excellent programs throughout the year, but especially at Christmas time that are seeking donations for children in low income areas. Your donation might be the only gift a child gets this holiday season, and donating in your friend’s name can make both of you feel warm and fuzzy knowing that you’re helping others.
If you know your friend is dying for something basic like a book or movie, go ahead and buy it for her. Wrap it up, and then get creative. Maybe you should stash it somewhere and make her hunt for it. For example, let her crush hide it in his locker. Then leave her a clue or two each time you see her until she realizes who has her gift. When she works up the courage, she’ll have to talk to her crush to get her gift. And who knows, maybe you just gave your BFF TWO terrific holiday gifts this year!
