A Split Weight Issue (Doll Article)

(August 10, 2007 by CUT_andaction Send DollMail )
When I saw a heath commercial about losing weight then the news program all about anorexia, I knew it had gone too far.
You know what, people will never be good enough! We're always too skinny or too fat to these doctors!
Growing up, I was always sort of chunky until I hit fifth grade. My doctor was always telling me to play more and eat less. Well, now he's telling my dad all about how he thinks I'm anorexic! What the heck!?
What about those models? Notice how we're always calling them too skinny, saying they're anorexic? Well notice Tyra Banks stops modeling because she wants to gain weight and suddenly a bunch of people go against her because she's "fat". Notice Victoria's Secret's models are suddenly 10 lbs lighter. What the heck?!?!?!
Why can't we just be who we are? Some people are fatter than others, some are skinnier. Let people be 300 lbs as long as they're happy! Let people die of starvation! Who cares! It's what we think of ourselves. We're always scowling at others, saying how fat or how skinny they are, or squeazing our bellies wanting to gain or a lose a few lbs.
There are very few times when it actually matters. Be who you are!!

Yeah, I agree with the not needing to worry as much about weight - and definitely not making fun of ppl who are skinny or fat. But there is a point in both directions where it becomes a health problem. I should know - I was anorexic, & still struggle with it occasionally. And, no anorexics are NOT happy with their weight. That's the problem. They are constantly unhappy and wishing that they were skinnier, and often, brave enough & strong enough to stop. But it becomes an addiction, & is not easy to stop. So yeah, there is definitely a point where ppl need help.

Well I just don't listen to doctors anymore because no matter what i'm either 5 pounds over or 5 pounds under the weight they expect or need me to be at. My dad's wife had to quit smoking and lose 10 or 15 pounds in 2 weeks. That is kinda impossible, but u should care. I mean people who are that way didn't choose it. It just happened and they want or need help with it no matter if at the time they don't want it.

Doctors do that to keep you healthy. I have never been called fat or skinny. My friends are really skinny, but they're extremely short compared to me.

And to fishmouse,

You have too excerseis. Thats the best way. walk about a mile every day. Thats all.

My eleven year old sister weighs 133 lbs but she's very tall for her age, She's 5"5 or 5"4 she tells me she want to be skinnier because all the kids in her class are way much skinnier than her but I try to tell her their like that because they are way shorter she's not over weight. She's tall and has booty meat I try to tell her..but she just wants to be as skinny as her friends but to tell you the truth I don't want her to be that skinny it's really unbelievably skinny they are I'm not saying their anorexic. But I just dont want my sister comparing her self to others. She's too beautiful and too young to be sad over her weight meanwhile she has many many years of life to live and should be happy the way she is

kay,I think the whole anaraxic thing, Is going to far, if you think you need to be thin, eat right, exersize, (Boy I need to learn how to spell!) & don't read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly!!!!!! (I got lots of this from the song #6 on my MP3 player, it's called, "Wear Sunscreen")

I'm sorry but people don't need to be 300 pounds to be happy. They don't have an excuse, unless they have an extremly low metabolisim. Don't get me wrong being anorexic isn't acceptable either, they also don't have an excuse they just need to gather up guts and eat until they're at least not underweight. I'm not thin myself, but I'm not overweight either, when I was younger I was overweight for no reason. My solution= Working out and finding my perfect weight.

There is a difference between saying "It doesn't matter what you weigh; every girl is beautiful in her own way" and saying "Let people do what they want with their weight and if they die, they die". You seem to be leaning more toward the latter, and I think that's wrong. I admit that there are people out there who have weight problems. I'm one of them, actually. I've been trying to lose weight for almost a year now and yet it's coming back.

The thing is, there are people out there who are what they call "morbidly obese". These people are so overweight that they are endangering their health. They're the people who get gastric bypass surgery to help them lose weight. That's fine. It's a major step, but if it stops them from dying, that's great. There are also people out there who are what you might call "morbidly underweight". These are the anorexic/bulimic people, and they need help too.

It shouldn't matter what you look like, but you can't ignore serious issues.

i am 5'6 and am 142 ish pounds. to not have a stomach (which i hate) i have to lose about 10 pounds. i really just want to do this to be happy because i have seen people get overweight. I dont want to be that way. My mom is a bit overweight as well. but now we are both supporting each other to get down to a reasonable weight and feel good. its nice to have a family member support you. but i also beleive that people would not be as self contious if the clothing stores actually made clothes for normal people. it is ridiculous how tight those clothes are.

I am those who people call 'too skinny'. I am 17, and I am 75 lbs. But I'm fine. Got myself a cute crush, he likes me too, (didn't admit it yet) and a bunch of friends. I am myself. Dont care about those frickin' docs, or what they say because I am ME, MYSELF and I. I think I am beautiful just the way I am.

I'm 5"4' and 138 lbs. Last year I always skipped, breakfast, and lunch...and dinner, when I could. I'm still fat. I don't know where those numbers are stored. All I know is I don't like them, or my thighs, or my butt, or even my stomach. I bascially hate everything about me.

I've been called fat.

Mostly by a stupid boy who happens to my boyfriends friend.

Angry huh?

Anyway. I just ignored him, esspecially when he commented that me and my friend should be called 'the fat & skinny'. It hurt but I just walked away and I could see that his smile faded away once he realised that no one was laughing.

I'm doing great.

Ok, i guess i should share my story on here.

Well, i'm 5'2 and 116 pounds. I know i'm not fat, but i do weigh a lot more than i'd like to (100). When school was still in i use to go down to the fitness room with my friends. Most of my friends are overweight, i'm one of the skinniest ones. (most of my school is actually overweight) Well, they only went once. They gave up. They're happy how they are though, i just convinced them to come with because i didn't want to be alone. Since they gave up, i just let them stay in the gym while i went down to the fitness room. Then at lunch, i wouldn't eat anything. My mom packed a lunch, so i just gave it to other people. I'm just not happy with who i am. Hopefully someday i will be.

...and yoshie, you seemed very rude in your last post. I'm not anorexic or bulimic but i do cut. I don't see why you think that's ok though. all those three things you listed don't just come out of nowhere. It's rude people like you that sometimes make it worse.
