I was sitting down to watch a movie the other day with a few friends and realized just how much movies mean to the girl culture. There are certain movies that can make us cry or laugh no matter how many times we watch them. There are some that inspire us and others that make us want to hug our best friends. I thought it was time to pull together a list of my personal favorites Ė my All-time Best Chick Flicks:

The Princess Bride

The Princess Bride is the absolute, ultimate love story. The handsome farm boy goes off to seek his fortune, only to die at the hands of a ruthless pirate. Poor Buttercup is selected to be married to a dorky prince she doesnít love and gets kidnapped for her troubles. Suddenly she is kidnapped from her kidnappers by a mysterious stranger. Will true love win out over all the obstacles, including death, thrown in their way? As you wish!

Sleepless in Seattle

An oldie, but a goody. A young dad loses his wife and does his best to raise his son. His son knows how hard his dad is working and wants him to be happy again, so he calls into a radio show. After hearing from the boy, Dad gets on the phone and women all over the country fall in love with him and his son. One lady in particular is moved by his message and the son tries to set things up for Dad, with some messy but beautiful results.

Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

Based on the novel, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants gives it to us straight. Girlfriends are our support system, and a bit of magic never hurt either. Four friends split for the summer, but stay connected through letters and a special pair of jeans. Each has their own adventure as they deal with life, love, death and growing up. Plus, you get to cry at all the meaningful moments.

Steel Magnolias

If youíre in need of a teary pick-me-up, this southern classic will come in handy. A group of women are the kind of friends you have for life. The movie follows all the women through a special marriage, exciting birth and eventually one of the most heart-wrenching tragedies possible. Through it all, the women stick together and keep each other strong, even when they lose their way.

Bridget Jones Diary

If you like a bit of saucy British humor, and who doesnít, youíll love old Bridget.Bridget Jones is searching for Mr. Right as well as the perfect dress size. Poor Bridget has trouble getting her act together, though. She doesnít have the perfect job and canít seem to find the perfect man despite a pretty serious crush or two. Itís a good thing luck, her friends and at least two men are on her side. This movie is hilarious and has a pretty nice ending, too.

Fortunately, there is no such thing as a complete list when it comes to chick flicks. There is always something new and exciting out there, and Iím always adding new favorites as my mood changes. Now, if youíll excuse me, Iím suddenly in the mood to watch a movieÖ

I love the Princess Bride, I've watched it too many times to count. And I've seen Steel Magnolias and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

You're right. These are all great chick-flicks. And thanks for an article not about manga, anime, or Sailor Moon.

P.S. I definitely think JeZz should write another one of these with different chick-flicks.
